The concensus seems to be that this dates at least to 326AD, but whether it was around 300 years or so prior and was really Christ's burial bed is unknown. Its a bit like the Shroud of Turin that regard, but the Shroud can only be denonstrated as going back at least as far as the middle ages- this seems more ancient. But does it truly go all the way back? Looks like we might be getting some clues coming up.
