Do kindergarteners talk about their families? If so, does it maybe make sense to allow discussion of the fact that, in fact, yes, little Billy DOES in fact, have two mummies?

On the issue of the photographer and florist refusing to service a gay marriage - that was a setup.

Basically some lesbians knew a photographer was a christian and wanted them out of business, plus their 15 seconds of fame, so they deliberately misled them until the last minute.

Then of course, they can go to the gay and gay friendly press and make themselves look like a victim. And then this makes them into some sort of lesbian version of Rosa Parks. Truth is their are plenty of businesses that actively court the gay communities dollars which they could have used instead.

BTW, I know this isnt a practice endorsed by most gays.

    Source for these claims?
That were local, available, and within price range? And thats without getting into the whole issue of the precedent that gets set when people start saying "well you people have your own service providers, so we shouldn't have to cater to your type".

Yeah, but there are other alternative families that I would try to discuss with children on my own time rather than in school. I know some people are in polygamous relationships and raise children together.

Good for you. Now how would you like teachers to deal with the kids who's parents WON'T discuss it before the subject comes up, if the teachers arent allowed to talk about it?

I know we have a tendency to believe our children are sweet and innoc3nt, I khave a 7 year old daughter I still refer to as 'the baby', but anyone who thinks even young kids don't talk about this stuff amongst themselves is woefully naiive. Surely kids are better discussing this stuff with some guidance from an adult, rather than purely amongst themselves while the grown ups pretend it isn't happening?

Perhaps we should stop thinking of Christianity as being defined by positions on "homosexuality" and abortion. Since it isn't.

Actually, that is pretty muchwhat Rosa Parks, who was a trained activist, did, or what John Thomas Scopes did...deliberately created test cases of various kinds in order to run them by the courts.

My experience is that young children handle common sense explanations of homosexuality and polygamy with much more aplomb than their parents do.

I know but when there was an overreach by the government to enforce an ideal then it becomes a problem. Although abortion has a lot more reasons to Christians to still be against it.

While I think its wrong for any group of people to threaten another group of people physically, this has been happening to LGBT people forever. Where were all these Conservative Christian groups who are being treated "unjustly" when LGBT teenagers were killing themselves due to lack of acceptance, bullying and solitude? Not to mention the homeless epidemic among LGBT youth and the higher rates of violence against.

Its very hard for me to feel sorry for a group of people who have waged a war that's indirectly or sometimes directly ended the lives of thousands of children who did nothing to them. Again, I NEVER condone violence against ANYONE. Whether they agree with you or not. However, I certainly understand the anger.

How about this as much as some people in the LGBT movement has legitimate gripes they can also become as betty and intolerant than they let on. I heard a lot of people that become ex-gays get blacklisted and have been given death threats by some members of the gay community. Not all ex-gays are forced into being that way because some do it on their own.

While I can think of a few Bible verses forbidding certain kinds of homosexual behavior, it doesn't say a single thing about abortion. I think the anti-abortion position is one that many Christians have latched onto due to ethical reasoning, not religious belief.

When people are marginalized to the point to where they're committing suicide far beyond the national average...Are they being petty? Being irrational? Yes, I'd say threatening others is irrational. But petty? Wrong word.

When severely persecuted people have enough and strike back they have so much pent up anger they often do irrational things.

I'd guess a lot of people in the LGBT community feel as though Exgays are living a lie and helping reenforce the whole "choosing homosexuality" myth. Now me personally if you feel more comfort being straight or gay, I have no problem with it. However, I'm a straight man. I don't have years and years of the pent up anger many in LGBT lifestyles do. Remember who is still causing said anger.

To my knowledge there are few objections to an adult who wants to change their orientation, though many people are skeptical that it is commonly possible. The big concern is with minors, and with programs intended primarily for them. The concern is that they are being forced by their parents.

If it was common to have social or religious pressure forcing people to change their gender, I'd want protections there as well. But today most pressure is in the opposite direction.

For teens I just want it to be of their consent and not anything forced as well because the forced ones produce problems for them later. I think it would be only for those teens who are doing it for themselves instead of pressure from their parents.

That reminds me in Iran they force some gay people to change genders.

Do you seriously think that people who change their gender are more often applauded for it than alienated for it? Because, in most instances this isn't the case.

Also, I'd guess 90% of the time the forcing is going the other way.

And I'll be the first to tell you that's completely illogical and is insulting to any gay person that has struggled heavily with being gay, and begged God for years to make them straight. Being gay is a capital crime in some countries. Nobody chooses to be gay just so they can get executed. Being gay (the attraction to the same-sex) is biological. The gay brain is physically wired differently before birth.

The issue I see with this is what's the point? Marriage has always been secular in the United States. Christianity doesn't own an English word that it wasn't even involved with until over 1000 years after Christianity began. No one is going to call themselves, "Civilly Unionized". They will still say married, which nullifies the reason for making a distinction.

And there are thousands of churches and synagogues who will "Marry" a gay couple, so it's effectively only being done to appease the Conservative crowd. Sorry, I'm not on board with overhauling the English language and all US laws related to "Marriage" to appease Conservative Christians. They can deal with it.
