I was recalling this morning the days, long ago, when my brothers, sister and I were members of the Christian Youth Crusaders. The words to one of the songs we sang went like this: "I may never march in the infantry, ride in the calvary, shoot the artillery. And I may never zoom o'er the enemy, but I'm in the Lord's army."

Funny how things like this come to mind out of nowhere. So much of my youth I forgot due to an early tragedy in our family. It shook us all to the core.

Were any of you a member of the Christian Youth Crusaders? There was another song we sang, the words of which I can recall only vaguely. It started with, "I am a Christian Youth Crusader. I live (or have) a (something) code....." Does anyone recall it? Truth is, I can't recall in which church denomination this activity took place.

It was a youth group, and since googling the name, I discovered it came from out of the Methodist denomination; but I keep thinking it was while we were attending the Salvation Army that we became members.

Suits of armor? No, we carried play swords, if I remember correctly.

Crusaders [as I believe it is now called] is still alive and kicking. Although the 'Lord's Army' song was sung in many places outside of Crusaders. In taht i was never a member but sung it as a kid - remember the actions??

I belonged to CYC (Christian Youth Crusaders) and it was in the Free Methodist Church where I grew up (near Rochester, NY).

In 1962-1964 I was involved in a Methodist Church in Seattle, WA as a Christian Youth Crusader Boys/Girls Club member.

We are crusaders living for our King.
We are so happy as we march along and sing.
Onward to victory let our voices ring.
We are loyal crusaders for our king!

I think that's it. At least how I remember it.
