Ok first I can assure you I am not joking around or taking the mickey here. I am a 40 year old guy with a normal life, I am a Roman Catholic although last time in church was about 15 years ago. But I am worried about something.
At end of January I went to a friends birthday party and I admit to being very drunk, I remember the night except for one hour. One minute I was in the bar the next I was in my friends living room at 2am talking with a few others. I didnt think much of it until a few days later when my friend called me saying she needed to ask me something. She wanted to know what I remember so I told her but she wanted to know if I remember being outside the bar and in her kitchen which I dont. It was then that she told me what happened.
About a year ago one of her closet friends took his own life and that night she said she saw him in me plus I was rambling on about working for the government and things that had happened. Now she said she was shocked and didnt believe it at first but others too see this and couldnt believe it. They all said it was this guy who took his own life. I never knew this guy as he died before I knew my friend. She has had someone come into her home since this has happened to do a spiritual reading or something and this guy picked up on her friend and he said her deceased friend is sorry for what he did to the drunk man (me) that night but he had to get a message through. I have told her I am ok with it but the truth is that I am scared. I believe in Jesus but I have never believed in spirits walking the earth or possession but this has me freaked. I am sorry if this is not the right place to put this but been searching online and I cant find any information on this. Should I see someone? Can this really happen? I say im scared but freaked maybe a better word.
Sorry if this sounds all a bit crazy.

Wow . . People are going to be surprised at the answer I give you, but here goes.

I remember a conversation I had with a friend years ago where we talked about just this subject. At first I was adamant that this could not happen. But as we both dug into it, we came across something - and my memory is so foggy now about it, all I can remember is it was in Catholic or EO writings and there was a specific name for it. But beyond that I can't recall right now. I don't even know if I can find the references I found before - and I have some vague memory there may have been a discussion about it here at CF. But without remembering the right key words, don't know how to adequately filter the search.

    Wait . . . . I think I remember . . maybe not lol

What you need to do is talk to your priest immediately, and even seek out the exorcist for your Archdiocese and speak to him for discernment.

What you do not know is what this experience was. You don't know its source and this is nothing to play around with.

First - before you or her get carried away - 'psychic' readers 'lead' ppl into giving them information.
It is always a question form. "Do you know someone who recently killed themselves - i sense sadness...'
Well, ppl might know 2-3 ppl ever who killed themselves - but the first one to pop into their head is the one they were closest to.
Then they ask other leading questions. Was this a guy? etc etc.
Now if someone was actually speaking - [and souls in purgatory can find folks who actually do hear them] - it would be a definitive speech.
There is ONE message a soul in purgatory wants - and its prayers.
Chances are - to gleam 'knowledge' via a message - it would not be from a good source.

Since most ppl do not remember how they 'got answers' to their questions - they only remember the 'coincidental' things.
Now i grant you - evil spirits can indeed work it both ways.

They can possess - and then lead [inspire] someone to use a psychic to which 'backs them up' because psychics are usually open to evil because of 'what they do' and procure 'knowledge' of the future.

Any procurement of knowledge - intentionally - and usually with compensation - is letting evil forces use them.
And if there really was a message thru you - it wouldnt be a good thing.

Now you can fret over this - and go find a priest as soon as possible.
And you can seek a priest for confession [obviously easy access of the will to something bad isnt considered good news] To put it nicely.

    OR

You can relax, go to confession - and forget this happened - move on - return to Mass and the Church and find strength in God and His protection.
    Therefore being able to relax...

    Two things are possible:
    1) It really happened [which case it isnt good]
    2) The 'psychic' was leading to obtain 'answers' through fictitious means.

One thing for sure - messages that procure future events may be evil.
[Not sure about warnings] Souls [might] be able to warn us.
Though it's not likely a good soul [souls in purgatory] would take advantage of someone in an inebriated state.

I think more info is needed. What were the messages [supposedly]? did the 'psychic' use leading questions to fish for answers?

    Etc

TLF - we 'both' know the 'bad side' of indulging in getting information via the other side.

Psychics may be able to genuinely 'obtain' info from a soul in need - generally tho, this [if its real] sounds more of the evil flavor.
Souls in purgatory can only 'reach out' if God allows them.

The Catholic church is full of occasions over the centuries where Saints and departed souls from purgatory have appeared to various mystics of the Church and other countless individuals, so the possibility does in fact exist within accepted Catholic belief that the spirits of the deceased could come and give messages.

I have never heard of souls participating with 'compensated psychics'.

2115 God can reveal the future to his prophets or to other saints. Still, a sound Christian attitude consists in putting oneself confidently into the hands of Providence for whatever concerns the future, and giving up all unhealthy curiosity about it. Improvidence, however, can constitute a lack of responsibility.
2116 All forms of divination are to be rejected: recourse to Satan or demons, conjuring up the dead or other practices falsely supposed to "unveil" the future. Consulting horoscopes, astrology, palm reading, interpretation of omens and lots, the phenomena of clairvoyance, and recourse to mediums all conceal a desire for power over time, history, and, in the last analysis, other human beings, as well as a wish to conciliate hidden powers. They contradict the honor, respect, and loving fear that we owe to God alone.

Experiences and sessions with mediums and psychics should be strongly avoided by everyone
One of the obvious reasons why God condemns necromancy is because of the very real and grave danger of a medium or psychic being misled by an evil spirit(s), and thereby also seriously misleading the persons involved. The demons prowl about the world seeking to deceive and ruin souls and neglecting this fact is potentially catastrophic to one's soul. And then too there are of course those psychics and mediums who are complete frauds and who willfully deceive for monetary profit.

Also, persons who actively seek out messages from the dead through channelling sessions with mediums and those who seek the advice of psychics run the possible risk of sin themselves by patronising and encouraging the act of conjuring of spirits invoked by mediums and psychics, along with also running the very obvious risk of being deceived, even by the most well meaning and sincere medium or psychic, because of the very nature of the sin of necromancy. Therefore, all persons should avoid seeking personal sessions with mediums and psychics.

Well, I am no expert but my antennae and the hairs on the back of my neck rise bout no permission asked or given, just taken over huh. I would run to the nearest Priest, would fall on my knees in prayer to God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit and ask St. Michael's help. Good never over rides anyone and takes over IMO.

You NEVER indulge. He didn't participate in that and I didnt' see any indication that he wanted to. That's something that the girl did which was wrong and opens herself to more spiritual problems.

What the question seems to be is did this really happen? And if it did, did a soul take possession to communicate through him? Or is it always demonic if it happens?

My friend had a favorite term for when demons pretend to be something they aren't. . . she called them "demons in drag" - a fitting term. :)

So, what's not known is what is the source of this. This is why I am telilng him to talk to his priest and even an exorcist for discernment (I'm not saying he needs to be exorcised).

That he has no memory, was not conscious of what was happening, was not in control of what was happening, would speak against it being, if it really happened, something God would permit.

    Yes I have to agree.

This should not be ignored one way or the other.

Also, this is a very good reason not to ever get inebriated again. :)

I would highly doubt that too. lol

I'm removing the link to the story as I had forgotten how much reiance there was on psychics for her to find the donor, but in effect, woman had a heart lung transplant and began to have cravings and thoughts and personality changes that were completely unlike her prior to the transplants - she discovers who the donor is and that these new changes match up perfectly with him.

There is a book I thought I remembered dealing with this, called Soul Within a Peach a story about Florence Sau Kin a Catholic convert from Buddhism. When looked it up a bit ago, it said nothing about what we are talking about here in the description; but when I looked it up again just now specifically in relationship to possession it came up on a list of books. I read part of over 10 years ago, and I don't have it in my possession.

Talk to a priest and reconcile yourself back to the Church fully and completely.

I don't know very much about these spiritual matters, but I do know that God gives us free will and if a spirit and/or demon possesses a person while that person is not in their own right state of mind... then it went against your freewill to choose.

That in itself would indicate that what may have happened was not something that you would want.

I understand being freaked out. I would be too and perhaps, it is a sign that you have grown very far away from God and the Church. It happens to us all at one time or another... growing away from God and Church.

Please for your own peace of mind... talk this over with a priest.

One thing that I do know will help... is pray "Our Father" prayer and "Hail Mary" prayer... and also ask Michael, the archangel to protect you from evil and he will.

I'll share an experience that happened to my husband and me about 5 or so years ago.

His cousin had died two months after his wife passed away. They both were in their fifties. His cousin died from cancer after fighting cancer for many years. We all knew that his cousin was going to pass away soon and so when we got that phone call... and instead it being his wife telling us that he passed away, it was his cousin telling us that his wife passed away. We knew that she had a chronic disease and that stress was not a good thing, but we didn't realize how sick she was because we all were worried about his cousin.

So, my husband and I fly out to the funeral a long with other family members. My husband and I slept in his cousin and wife's bedroom.

The first night in the room, Bob and I were both awaken to hearing moaning.. of a woman, weeping and moaning in pain. I looked at Bob and he looked at me and then we held each other. I prayed Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. After praying Hail Mary, I prayed "Our Father" and then I asked Jesus to help whoever was in pain to comfort her and help her.

I also prayed to Michael the archangel to keep Bob and me safe and to protect us.

I fell asleep and had brilliant bright dreams the whole night and it was one of the most peaceful sleeps that I have ever had.

We slept in the room a few more nights and other times that we had visit the family since that time, we slept in that room... never heard the weeping and moaning again. I would like to think that Jesus came for her and helped her.

I don't know why these spiritual things happen... they just do. Not all are evil or bad... it's important to pray and if some spiritual experience freaks you out.. makes you scared, uncomfortable... it's important to talk to a priest and pray.

I will keep you in my prayers.

    God's peace,

    Debbie

let me explain no this can not happen, if the person your friend brought into the house was not a priest and was one of these people who say they are contacting the dead person they are being decieved ,it is a fallen spirit that has come in contact with that person not the friend she thinks it is, this is similiar to doing a ouija board , when we are living from the day we are born fallen angels no all our weaknesses and know all about us, this is why when these people come into houses or them ones such as john edwards that are on stage, saying that they are in contact with someone who may be in the audience dead relative or friend, they may well be in contact with someone but believe you me it is not the dead person they think they are talking about, but an evil spirit, and that spirit knowing a lot about the dead person can tell things about that person. this is why people believe that it is the dead relative or friend , i have dabbled with ouija boards in my day and believe you me it is not good stuff ,i was raised on the rosary and i fell away from my faith dablled in stuff like that, drunk a lot and took drugs, thank god i have returned to my faith ,go to mass daily and pray my rosary daily, the rosary is great protection against the evil one, now i will tell you what i had to do, firstly you must go to confession and confesss your sins , then the priest if you can get one that specialises in excorisms will give you a prayer of deliverence, if there is anything in or around you this priest will be able to tell you. your friend also must do the same , and confess about having bringing these people into her house ,who say they have been in contact with the dead person, and she to should get her house blessed by a catholic priest, we must not forget that the fallen angels are cunning and decieving and know a lot more than we think they do, pray your rosary daily and ask our lady ,st michael and all the holy angels and your gaurdian angel for protection, ask our lord jesus to be with you always,
i know a lot of people out there will say this is crazy but believe me when i tell you that if you start praying your rosaries daily and contemplate on the mysteries on the life and death of jesus , and when tempted pray ,soon the temptations will stop cause i believe when satan or a fallen angel tempts you and at that minute you start praying to jesus and his beloved mother mary , that is the last thing they want you to do and temptations will soon get weaker, i have tried everything and i can honestly say that prayer from the heart will heal all,

I think that you have been given a warning to practice more moderation in the use of alcohol. Your own consciousness was in a weakened state at the time the event your friend claimed happened occurred.

And so, while hearing about it was frightening to you, it could be a blessing.

  17. I've also been possessed of the spirit of somebody who's died. The message was for somebody else who wanted an assurance that he was okay. It wasn't prophetic in any way--simply a message that he was alright and needed prayers.

It didn't seem weird to me because my father's side of the family has always been able to see and speak to people who've passed away. My grandfather has appeared to me and my aunt both and was asking for prayers (which was more than likely because we hadn't had the funeral Mass for him, yet).

Don't contact psychics who ask for money in exchange for services--in most cases they're charlatans performing a parlour trick. I've seen them work and I know the trick well enough to be able to do it myself.

My advice, if you've never had this happen before, is to talk to a priest and ask for a blessing. You can take the advice of others here and seek an exorcist if the issue is proven to be demonic. Another thing I'll say is that inebriation was quite possibly the reason why this happened--there is a reason why alcohols and liquors are also known as "spirits." People used to use them to "touch another world" and have visions. Try not to drink so much next time.

Exactly, i think the girl - looked too much into it - then brought in a paid for psychic - which is an error.
'Psychics' - which exist - are not those who use necromancy to seek out souls of the dead - but are sought out by the dead - in their own time.

I think the term is different... i think mystical experiences happen.. where souls can reach out to those who are sensitive.
But we dont 'force' the issue.

Forcing them to show themselves and answer - isnt channeling the dead - rather spiritis who enter in the dialogue and answer - because they 'know' so much.
Its like looking for future events - and only God can chose who He deems may have such experiences.
As we know the Holy Spirit does give these gifts.

I didnt say 'this was his doing' - however the girl is looking for answers in something 'she saw into it all.'
It could have been mere coincidence.

But souls do not enter ppl. The evil spirits might suggest they did... per the psychic saying 'they apologized'.

    Which leads to....
    Precisely.

One should not open themselves up - by sinning in drunkenness.
Alcohol is ok - moderation must be practiced.

I have heard of college kids getting possessed and needing a priest who got drunk..too drunk.
When one crosses the line of acceptable drinking - they enter sin that opens them up.

And souls in purgatory do not 'possess' anyone. Its unholy to do.
Evil may imitate 'said soul' and do so...
    Just saying...

Quickly pray to God and ask God to make you His stronghold.

Once you are under God's protection, nothing can harm you.

    Not even evil spirits. Guaranteed.

I see a blessing in disguise.

    God wants you back ;)

    Will you heed Him?
