Yep, you got me. Not being part of one of the faith traditions who venerate the symbol, I see no reason to use it or fight for it.

It's pretty much been resolved. Thanks for the observation though. :)

A rainbow is more important to you than the cross that Saint Peter was crucified on? Okay, I guess. To each his own. :p

You're in a REALLY bad mood, aren't you, Dan? I never said the cross St. Peter was crucified on meant something or anything to me, did I? You do realize that the actual cross and a symbol of it are two different things. And I never said a rainbow matters more, it's just something that has particularly bugged me as of late. You are aware of the fact that the rainbow, which was God's lovely gift to us all in the age of Noah, is infinitely more abused (by the LGBT community) in this day and age than the upside down cross, right? Tell me how many rainbows you see on TV or around the community or in movies or media and how many upside down crosses you see? Yeah, I rest my case.....it's not that I could care less about the upside down cross, it's just that I understand Matt's point.

And really, there's no need for a nasty, sarcastic response style. All you have to do is disagree, without the theatrical snarkiness. The whole "Yep, you got me" stuff is silly and unnecessary. Why? First of all, we're both Orthodox Christians and theoretically brothers in Christ, right? Secondly, I consider you a friend, so no need to be rude. And thirdly, I'm not trying to "get you." That whole post could've been re-worded and you could've made the same point. And that was my original point...your disagreement with Matt was pretty disagreeable. It didn't have to be.

Dude, I'm sorry. I didn't take it seriously. I had already explained that it's not even a good comparison. I was amused, not angered. Really, I'm sorry for offending you.

Satan will try anything and everything to deceive man. It hates us because God loves us. It can even appear as an angel of light to deceive. It will reverse everything it can to deceive. When you see this, it is the spirit of anti-Christ, calling evil good and good evil (Isaiah 5:20). As there is a Holy Trinity, there is the reverse also...Satan, the anti-Christ son and the false prophet.

    Hi Dan,

Well I think finding my points amusing or silly and not taking them seriously hurts more than you being angered. I think I'd prefer you angry at me than thinking I'm a joke....When you and I dialogue, I feel the fool in your eyes, and that is what bothers me. The tone and tenor was pretty insulting. So your apology is something I'm a bit confused about. Perhaps I'm reading it wrong, but it sounds like you're apologizing for sounding angry when in reality you're thinking my points lame and silly and not worth considering. Confusing....

I hope I'm just reading this wrong.

Well Scott, if you go back over my posts, you'll see that the "point" I didn't take seriously "the symbol is used in India and Asia" (where the religions in question are most prevalent - no surprise there) was something I had already covered. Then you said that even if I wasn't Orthodox, I probably wouldn't use the symbol... Well, yea, as long as I wasn't Hindu, Buddhist, or Jain, I'd have absolutely no reason to use them... Ergo the "you got me"... You were absolutely right. Not having a religious tie to the symbol in question, I have absolutely no reason to worry about it, or even see a serious point to your words, except argumentativeness. After all, I had already explained that your example wasn't even applicable.

Now was my tone and tenor insulting? I suppose it was. I am sorry that it was. Let me assure you that you are no "fool" in my eyes. I have a great respect for you, as I do Matt. My tone and tenor was directed at the post in question, not at you personally. However... I should have been more sensitive. If the same thing had been said in person, over a beer, you would have seen the tongue planted in my cheek, as the smileys in my post were supposed to indicate.

So, sorry Scott. I left this forum last time because my postings were grating on others, perhaps I should have stayed away.

Fair enough, Dan. Thank you, brother. I want to add that if I didn't have great respect for you (which I do!) then I wouldn't feel bad about what was said. I tend to take it harder if I feel a friend, a good man, a person I respect, has insulted me or thought me a nurfherder. I'm glad it was just us talking past each other a bit, so to speak. I'm also glad to hear you're not a Hindu :p^_^

You got something against nerfherders? My uncle was a nerfherder.

Well, they all lead to the same place, right? ;)
(If you couldn't tell, that was a joke.) :p
