That was the headline of the San Francisco Chronical article about Bob Dylan's concert appearance at the Warfield Theater in 1979. Not a welcoming greeting for Bob's first appearances with his new music after his open conversion to Jesus. To this day very few people even know that he wrote Gospel or Christian songs. Could you imagine going to a Bob Dylan concert in 1979 and hearing this:
I was blinded by the devil
Born already ruined
Stone-cold dead
As I stepped out of the womb
By His grace I have been touched
By His word I have been healed
By His hand I’ve been delivered
By His spirit I’ve been sealed
I’ve been saved
By the blood of the lamb
Saved
By the blood of the lamb
Bob Dylan "Saved"
From 1979 to 1981 he wrote and performed only Christian music like this. What I would love to see nowadays would be for contempory Christian musicians go back and look at his work and consider covering some of it. It is amazing!
