Black Lives Matter shuts down Chicago expressway over police killing of teen

CHICAGO, April 13 (UPI) -- Traffic on Chicago's Eisenhower Expressway was disrupted Tuesday night when a Black Lives Matter vigil held over the death of a 16-year-old boy turned into a march.

Several lanes of the expressway were blocked, and two protesters were arrested.

The march was preceded by a Black Lives Matter vigil mourning the death of 16-year-old Pierre Loury, who was shot and killed on Monday by Chicago police.

"They gunned down one of our brothers, they executed him -- 16 years old, 16 years old. He should be here right now," one person said at the vigil, Fox 32 reports.

Police stopped a car Monday evening that matched the description of one sought in an earlier shooting. Pierre jumped out of the car and tried to flee the scene on foot.

Chicago Chief of Detectives Eugene Roy said an "armed confrontation" followed, in which officers shot Pierre, whom police describe as a documented gang member, after he allegedly pointed a gun at police. Police said a weapon was recovered. A witness claims he saw officers "high five" one another after Pierre was shot down. Another witness said Pierre was climbing a fence when he was shot.

The is the same department that operated a covert torture center and covered up the fact that one of their officers shot a person multiple times after he was already on the ground. I'll believe their story when the video confirms it.

Perhaps protesting the actual folks who they think murdered the kid maybe?

Treat the police station the way they treated Mizzou I'm sure it'll work out great for them.

They tried that. It doesn't work, because surprise surprise, negative publicity doesn't really hurt a public service like the police. Angry voters on the other hand...

It's demonstrably working. Being loud, obnoxious, and in-your-face forces people to grapple with these realities. A protest that doesn't bother anyone is a failed protest. The protests that don't work are the ones that aren't disruptive, which people can just safely ignore.

A protest that annoys the people you are trying to convince to your side is a failed protest.

What do you think is going through peoples heads as they sit for hours in traffic, "Gosh these people are right! Cops are bad!" or do you think they are angry that they aren't able to get to work/school/home wherever they have to be and don't care what issue the idiots who are blocking the highway are protesting.
