It's important to note that it's ignorant to call this bigotry. The word bigot comes from Old French, and it was a term for the Normans, due to their frequent use of the Old English oath "bi got".
A bigot is not someone who is zealous in his beliefs, but rather obstinate in his beliefs. Basically, someone who refuses to change his beliefs when show evidence that disproves them. The letter writing is not bigotry. Nor is the Muslim response. Bigotry would be something like, if you somehow proved that it was actually the Florida Curling Society that wrote the letters, but someone refused to believe it because they don't like the family association and want something to blame them for.
Also, there is nothing wrong with discrimination. 'discriminate', a verb, comes from Latin 'discriminare' which means 'to discern' or 'make a wise judgment'. Unfair or partial or biased discrimination might be wrong, but generally it is good to be discriminating.
I haven't seen the show. I hope it gives Muslim immigrants a more civilized, Western role model. Perhaps one that salutes the flag, sees there is nothing wrong with saying "Merry Christmas", and that if anyone should be stoned it is the rapist and not the raped.
