affordable care act
-
I was watching a discussion about this on cspan -
higher costs were defended by the fact that prescription drugs were now covered
-so-
the cost and use of drugs will most likely go up
-then-
I learned that -
"High drug prices are the result of the approach the United States has taken to granting government-protected monopolies to drug manufacturers, combined with coverage requirements imposed on government-funded drug benefits. "
-then-
I learned that -
"He has asked Congress to let Medicare officials negotiate prices with drug manufacturers — a practice explicitly forbidden by current law."
-then-
I learned that -
-The price of an EpiPen two-pack has surged to more than $600
- the HIV Medicine Association condemned the price increase from $13.50 a pill to $750
-the number of unintentional overdose deaths from prescription pain relievers has soared in the United States
-The rise in opioid overdose deaths has occurred alongside an increase in prescriptions for opioid pain relievers.
-so-
watch for many more unintended consequences of what is now known as obamacare

to do that he has to get elected

That's why we need to get everyone who wants Obamacare
repealed to go out and vote for Trump. Hillary has no plans
to get rid of it. Under her, costs will likely get even worse.

I remember that when ACA was being proposed, the Conservative line was that it wouldn't work, that the Democrats knew it wouldn't work but were proposing it anyway because they believed that when it failed the public would refuse to return to the status quo ante thus paving the way for single payer--which is what the Democrats wanted all along.

So what does Trump propose to replace the ACA with?

I hope he moves to keep the government out of healthcare, but
that may be too much to expect of any politician these days. The
system wasn't broke before Obamacare. It just needed tweaking.
Not twerking.

He should get advice from people who want to make the system
better, not make money off of it. Plus when he sends all the
illegal immigrants home, that will ease a great burden on our
system.

He is beating her like a dirty rug. But even if he were 50 points
ahead, you would never hear it on the media outlets.

I hadn't heard it put so well in this entire election cycle and I wholeheartedly agree.

Hi d4tw,

Just something to consider when you hear any candidate for the presidency say that they are going to repeal an existing law.

http://blog.constitutioncenter.org/...ident-have-the-power-to-repeal-a-federal-law/

It's about as possible as his claims that overturning Roe v. Wade will be 'automatic' if he is elected. That's another impossibility.

God bless you.
In Christ, Ted
Well, it will not be like repealed on the first day, but as many times as congress has voted to try to repeal it it is possibile. As for Roe V Wade that would take the superme court.

Or a Constitutional amendment.

that would still take time considering that 1000s of amendments yet only 17 have made it ( after the bill of rights).

In any case it all depends on how much power the Christian Right wields in the new Congress, more than on who is elected President.

Thus, it would probably be easier to do it through the court, additionally if they went the amendment way and it was challenaged in court ( which could happen) it would just take longer.

Hi D4TW,

From what I've been reading, it's really closer to impossible than possible for either of the issues to be resolved in the way that some are saying it will be done.

God bless you.
