Wow. That is kind of eery. As for crosses that don't have Christ on them, I don't like them that well because it is what Christ did that is important, not the cross itself.

I never thought of it like that, how true!

Hey, my Lenten reading comes in handy! :)

This is from St. Robert Bellarmine's "Seven Words from the Cross."

"If we fix our eyes on the Cross alone we cannot but be filled with horror at the sight of such an instrument of death. But if we fix our eyes on Him Who bids us carry the Cross, and on the place whither the Cross will lead us, and on the fruit which the Cross will produce in us, then instead of appearing full of difficulties and obstacles, it will be easy and agreeable to persevere in carrying it, and even to remain with constancy nailed to it." :holy:

Anyone else think it's eerie how you can see the outline of the since removed Christ from the CF logo at the top left of the page?
so now we get a Cross instead of a Crucifix.

Next thing you know they will be telling us to tone done all the religious talk.

I kind of like it this way, a way of symbolizing that He has risen from death.
That line of thinking is what rationalizes plain crosses as well. It is what Jesus did on the cross that is important, not the cross itself.

That's what Easter-time is for

During Lent we focus on His Passion and Death.
Maybe we can get them to change it to the crucifix for Lent and back to what it is now during Easter season and ordinary time?

Maybe, it's not like we have any problem with plain crosses--most churches and other Catholic places and objects, new and old, are covered with them--but the Crucifix is special because it depicts the principal act of our Redemption.

Me too, I have nothing against an empty cross either. It's just more special when I see our Savior on it and can think about what He did for us.

I don't believe we are having this debate.

In any case, a new logo is currently being created and will replace both the crucifix AND the cross since members can't seem to agree on one or the other. This is the joy of an ecumenical Christian website.

I'm closing this thread since this is not the place for this discussion.

Hi

It's a new year and it's time to refresh the look of the CF site.

It's a new logo competition, but this time, it's for the CF logo! Also, you may also want to submit new table and category background images too.

The winner will get:

1 year free Site Supporter Subscription
50,000 blessings
1 free CF T-shirt with the new CF logo!

There will only be ONE winner.

The competition will be open until the end of March.

At the end of March we'll open the new EASTER logo competition based on the new CF logo.

Go for it!!!

For reference, below are the images you can choose to modify.

(technical details below that point redacted)
