As mentioned in the article a proper understanding of the doctrine of God's electing love promotes evangelism. We preach the Gospel of the free and sovereign grace of God in the Lord Jesus Christ because we want others to know Him as we know Him. We preach because we do not know who the elect are and because we understand the truth that the preaching of the Gospel of Christ is the power of God unto salvation to them that believe. We preach the Gospel because we know that everyone who hears us are just like we are, sinners deserving the very wrath of God and we desire that sinners be saved. We preach the Gospel because our hearts break for the lost and dying world we live in. We preach the Gospel because we know that the Lord has an elect people from every nation, kindred tongue and people and that they will hear the Gospel from the mouth of a preacher and believe. We are assured of the success of the preaching of the Gospel for the very fact that Christ will have His bride and His sheep will hear His voice and follow Him.

Success in evangelism has nothing to do with how many decisions are taken or how many profession have been recorded. Success in evangelism is for sinners to actually be born again and believe.

An old preacher once said that we have too many saved people today, that is far too many who have made professions of faith and "got saved" but have never been born from above. What we need to do is get people lost. Christ Jesus the Lord came to save the lost.

Amen!

A similar story is told in Acts 13:44-48.

God Bless

Till all are one.

I don't see why a Calvinist would evangelize since everyone's salvation, in the eyes of the Calvinists, is already predetermined by God and can't be changed by human action. In that context, evangelization would seem pointless.

Thanks for demonstrating that you don't understand Calvinism.

Long answer: Calvinism affirms that God works through means.

The elect aren't just saved automatically without them hearing and believing the gospel.

They are saved by God sending them the gospel message through evangelists like you and me. God uses that message and visits them with grace which changes their hearts and brings them to faith in Jesus.

Election drives evangelism.
Without election, evangelism is pointless.

Without election, there would be nobody to save. Election guarantees that people will respond positively to the gospel message.

Better not read Augustine or Aquinas.

Amen,a very powerful word that makes perfect sense.

80 % of America claims to be Christian.

If 80% were Christian we would not have the reprobate culture that is in America today.
