I remember being taught about the M-U experiment when I was in Junior High. However, I was also taught about it more as a historical basis, and that there existed other more current studies that were going on, as well as what a few of them were. (I seem to remember something with conditions deep underground, and meteors, though I can't say why).

I certianly agree with what Jet Black had to say about HIgh school education. Mine certianly did nothing at all to prepare me for College. I wish I had been able to drop out as a sophmore, take the GEd, and then go straight to community college. WOuld have saved me a lot of time had I been able to.

The Plum Pudding model of an Atom was actually mentioned in one of my chemistry books . It was, of course, part of the historical acount of what an Atom is (starting with the Greeks).
