Reps: 164,478 (power: 176) | | | Changing your identity Galatians 2:20 - I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. (KJV) Galatians 2:20 - Christ's life showed me how, and enabled me to do it. I identified myself completely with him. Indeed, I have been crucified with Christ. My ego is no longer central. It is no longer important that I appear righteous before you or have your good opinion, and I am no longer driven to impress God. Christ lives in me. The life you see me living is not "mine," but it is lived by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (MSG) Galatians 2:20 - I have been put to death on the cross with Christ; still I am living; no longer I, but Christ is living in me; and that life which I now am living in the flesh I am living by faith, the faith of the Son of God, who in love for me, gave himself up for me. The Word of God will change your perspective when you let it.
We must realize that the faith that we must have regarding our identity must rest squarely on Christ ALONE and not even a drop is wasted upon ourselves.
Your identification with Christ will allow your perspective to change.
Main Entry: iden•ti•fy
transitive senses
1 a : to cause to be or become identical
b : to conceive as united (as in spirit, outlook, or principle)
2 a : to establish the identity of
b : to determine the taxonomic position of (a biological specimen)
intransitive senses
1 : to be or become the same
2 : to practice psychological identification
So, in reality, your faith is focused on identifying with Christ, and not on how hard you pray or how much you read your Bible or how good you act.
By FAITH, you abandon your old identity to IDENTIFY with Christ’s identity. Thus you have a new identity in Christ.
Wouldn’t it be nice if you could change your identity when your adversary sees you on the street?
**Realize that it’s already been done. IN CHRIST, your identity has been changed and it looks just like His!!!
Men may say, “Well, that’s just ol’ so-and-so.” But the truth is… you’re not the same old person you’ve always been when you're born-again.
Stop identifying with YOU and start identifying with CHRIST instead.
Stop associating yourself with your old nature and start associating yourself with Christ’s nature.

Galatians 3:19 - What then was the purpose of the Law? It was added because of transgressions and [to make men more conscious of the sinfulness] of sin; and it was intended to be in effect until the Seed (the Descendant, the Heir) should come, to and concerning Whom the promise had been made. |

Gal 2:19-21
20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain."

Love you all.

Reps: 13,139 (power: 0) | | Also, if we are dead and it is Christ who is our life, everytime we try to own our failures who are we actually saying failed?
Rom 6:10-11
10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
NKJV
That word "reckon" is an accounting term. It means to take inventory that you are dead to sin.
NT:3049
logizomai (log-id'-zom-ahee); middle voice from NT:3056; to take an inventory, i.e. estimate (literally or figuratively):
When is the last time you saw a dead man do anything either good or bad?

I appreciate your post. I challenged myself 3 weeks ago to die to self and become that new creation in Him. The Scriptures you have posted just brought again to my mind not only who I am, but whose I am.
Thank you! |

Reps: 10 (power: 0) | | | Wow! I am really impressed by what I'm reading here. I am new to the forum and I had a difficult time finding a topic worth reading and replying to. I don't want to argue and fight people. I just want encouragement and to encourage others in the Word. I find myself constantly struggling to be who God has called me to be. Even on my best days, I still feel that I'm not good enough. I thank you all for the scriptures above and I know those, but I still find myself struggling to see who and what and where God wants me to be. |

Welcome to CF Angela. I have Good News for you in regards to your who, what, and where questions.
As far as who? Just exactly who you are right this very minute, that's who God wants you to be. Being exactly who you are is humility, and God loves that.
As far as what? Just exactly what you are this very minute, that's what God wants you to be. When He decides to make you a different "what", He'll give it to you. Then you will be that "what", but for now be the "what" you are right now. (also, the more God magnifies the Holy Spirit within you the more watts you have!.... )
As far as where? Wherever you are right this very minute, that's where God wants you. If He decides to change your "where" later, then go there and you will be right where God wants you when you get there. You will then be where He wants you even on your way to where. And when there is where, yup, you are right there.
I just wanted to lighten your day and say a big welcome to the forum.
