Creation & EvolutionForum for the discussion of this important topic. This forum is open to non-believers. There is a Christians-only forum in the Christians-only section too.
Ive noticed myself over my last couple of threads becoming increasingly agitated, and making posts and saying things that are almost insulting, and to those that this applies to, accept my apologies. It just seems to me, that on this forum, two things are happening:
1. Creationists come here with no intention of learning, merely of "trolling" and trying to force their views on others.
2. Evolutionists, and indeed all non-creationists, are annoyed by this and spend their entire time trying to refute the claims of evolutionists. No-one, to me, seems to be learning from these forums.
These evolution-creation forum posts for the most part are actually making me behave in a way I dont think is a christian way, being condescending, insulting, and rude, and I think that this doesnt just apply to me. Lets have a look at the forum rules again shall we?
1. Be kind to your fellow poster. No name calling. No flame-inciting language.
5. Be willing to retire your conversation if one side or the other is getting exasperated.
7. You will come in here with the attitude and mindset that you are not always right. Stonewallers, and trolls need not apply (and hence will be happily removed from the board). This includes people on both sides of the debate.
If we're mostly christians arguing about these issues, lets go about it like mature people, in a manner that God would approve of, not turn it into a slanging match. This is both counter-productive and distinctly non-christian.
I'd argue that most of us on the SC&E are atheist.

Like I say, Ive only been here a day. No reason not to keep it civil though is there?
None that I can think of.

Like I say, Ive only been here a day, so I wouldnt know. No reason not to keep it civil though is there?
Amen to that.

To them, you're just a freak, like me! They need you right now, but when they don't, they'll cast you out, like a leper! You see, their morals, their code, it's a bad joke. Dropped at the first sign of trouble. They're only as good as the world allows them to be. I'll show you. When the chips are down, these... these civilized people, they'll eat each other.
See, I'm not a monster. I'm just ahead of the curve.

One thing I've learned is that one needs a thick skin for these types of debates.
Something else I've learned is that the regulars tend to get more heated towards ignorance in general. I've seen the occasional ignorant atheist get shot down here, but moreso it's creationists on the receiving end.
Personally, I think that anyone who wants to participate in these debates should spend a little while becoming familiar with material on both sides of the debate. Then people would spend a lot less time correcting basic misconceptions and get down to the meat of the issues.

Actually for whatever reason this board is predominately atheist. Strangely many of them seem to argue down to creationist's levels, instead of trying to rise above them.
