Optomist, pessimist, or what?

Are you optimistic? Do you look at the bad side of things? Does it bother you one way or the other?

Troll? I'm offended. I'm just trying to get people to think about these serious topics. If I offended anyone I apologize.

Um.....we aren't supposed to force Christianity on anyone unless it is their desicion they really aren't saved.

Not supposed to force Christianity on anyone? But thats what we do best! We saved those souls of those poor primitive Native Americans by putting them into Missionarys where they could be educated. Don't forget the countless Africans we saved as well.
Bloody Mary taught 300 plus people prostestants what happens when you don't choose not to be saved. Lets not forget the Salem witch trials where christianity showed 20 people what happens when you work with the devil instead of denouncing him and being saved.
Of course lets not forget the people who were saved by their own will. The childrens crusade may be an example. Where a bunch of children believing god impowered them set off to take back the Holy land believing that once they reached the sea it would part for them. Their rewards were numerous. Some died of starvation others were sold into slavery. Did I mention that on the way to the holy land that soldiers of christ practiced killing Jews? Their deaths were forced that on them.
Enough Satire time to get the point. Most of you failed to pick up on the Satire last time. I've played video games and they are good. Studies show media violence does not increase real life violence. If any of you are interested read Freedmans book, "Media Violence and Its Effect on Aggression: Assessing the Scientific Evidence." :topic:
But back to christianity as an organization though. I've only scratched the surface and have many more examples.
Let talk about the Inquisition. This is where in 1231 Pope Gregory IX basically said any heretic who did not repent recieved capital punishment. Anyone who choose to repent and choose to be saved got a small punishment of life imprisonment, solitary confinement might I add so they could think about what they did. I'd also like to add that confessions we gotten through torture. A horrible horrible horrible thing. Executions were carried out by burning on a stake. If you want a painful and gruesome way to die being slowly burned as your skin peals off is the way to go. I'm disgusted at even the thought of this. But it happened. If you interested to know more you can read the book The Medieval Inquisition by Holmes and meier. Also anyone who was imprisoned or killed all of their property was taken.
In 1542 the pope formed a group of people composed of cardinals and other officials to over see the local inquisition. This groupd was called the Congregation of the Holy Office and is actually still around too day now called the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.
Lets talk a little more about this group, because they have effected history in other negative ways. Maybe their are a few positive things they have done, but I'm really not here to talk about those. This group helped stop the advancement of knownledge. This was the same group who threatened to kill Galileo in 1633 for believing that the earth revolved around the sun. Basically, they were saying if you don't believe in my christian beliefs backed up by the bible we can kill you just like we killed all those other people. This group also had an extensive list of forbidden books. Can't have people looking up alternative idea and thinking. So they placed limitation on freedom of speech. A right that people didn't have back then.
Lets fast-forward to the 20th century as several bible sized books could be written on the evils of the christianity in the far past. Many people are thinking that all these things happened many years go and don't happen today. Lets take a look at christianity in ireland. This is where Protestant and catholics kill each other for no other reason then for each others religion. In Feb. a protestant gundowned a 5 catholics in a betting shop. Now catholics and Protestants had lived together for a while with each other without killing each other that often. What is it that these people find so objectionable that they need to kill each other over? It another long story involving their religion. I wonder if they didn't consider themselves christians if they would still murder each other?
More about the 20th century. The catholic church helps the spread of aids by encouraging people not use condoms or other forms of birth control when they have sex. They will even go as far as to say HIV can't be prevented by condoms. Don't believe me do a search on the internet for "Vatican cardinal condoms can't stop HIV."
Their more too, the catholic church encourages the hatred towards people of different sexual orientation. Or how about the cover up about priests having sex with little boys. All possible by the institution known as the christian church.
Or how about Faith healing? How well does it work? Does relying on god and refusing to heal people really save someones life. According to Geogre street journal over 200 children have died in the last 15 years, because their parents relied exclusively on faith to heal them. 200 children with disease like diabetes and dehydration that could have been treated. 200 innocent children have been killed just in the last 15 years... Slow painful deaths might I add. In 1998 78 graves of children were found in Followers of Christ Church cementary. A following investigation should that children born into this church were 4.5 times more likely to die... think about it. Many of these diseases were easily treated, but once again faith resulted in their death from hard-headed parents.

I'm sure your all thinking well none of these people were really christians, because christians don't believing in killing people? Well, I'm sure those people who died would have their own opinions on that one, but it was the interpratation of christianity that caused these peoples deaths. Do you really think all those Native Americans would have died in Missionaries if the settlers weren't Christians? Maybe, maybe not. Would have all those people been hanged at the Salem witch trials for being with devil if that town was non-religious based. Again Maybe, Maybe not. Would the people in Irlend be fighting right now. I bet you all those children would not have died if it wasn't for their faith. How many wars are created by conflict of you religion with other religions. There are approx. 56 official wars going on in the world according to the Red Cross. How many of them are religion based? Ask your self. Well, I'm done. I've said more then enough to get me banned, but its the truth. :banned: Hopefully a few of you will read this before its all deleted by the moderates. Many of you are probably angered by this post. But again its the truth your are part of an organization of murder and corruption. Not everything your religion has done is bad. There is much good such as the soup kitchen and Aid you give, but don't you think you could do that with out supporting an organization such as this. Could you Maintain you belief in God without supporting something that has evil roots and maintains those roots today. bye :Rules:

I must admit that as positive as I'd like to be, I do tend to ponder on the negative side of things for a bit... at least until God gives me a good swift kick in the butt, hehe I do know that in all the hardships in my life, especially in hindsight, I can see exactly where God took care of things. Always at the point when I would just give up and let God...

Justification (salvation) is by faith alone, but not by a faith that is alone .

2 Timothy 3:15
But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

The Holy Bible is the infallible word of God and the final authority in all things regarding Christianity. No man, woman, denomination, teaching or tradition can override it. Praise God for that!!!

Although I actually think of myself as a realist, I tend to be very optimistic and hopeful in all things.

I think my perpetual disappointment is more indicative of unrealized optimism than anything.
