Scripture

Does all scripture have equal authority? Or, are there key points of authority that should be used to interpet scripture?

lojo,

Welcome! All scripture is equally inspired. All can be used to rebuke and train etc.. But we also do interpret scripture from other scripture. We interpret the inplicit with the explicit. So we do not take 1 verse out of context and say the Bible says this... One needs to have many scriptures to back up a position or to know what the Bible says about a certain topic.

So all scriptures is equally inspired but all scripture must be interpreted by other scriptures.
Does that make sense?

Hi, Lojo ~ have moved your thread to the Bible Study forum as it is more appropriate to be answered here. Thanks for your understanding.

Thanks for the welcome!
For example:
The 10 commandments and the teaching of Jesus.
Since these are the words of God would they not be the foundation or support for all other scripture, and able to stand alone? Or like you said BH6 all is equally inspired, (I take that to mean equally authority as well) which makes since to me too! Just confused on this point as I start to study the Bible and looking for a consensus.
