something to make depression leave

I used to listen to WOF preachers. My pastor told me that depresion is like stop pressing, like I backslid. I'm suppose to control depression. What is some scripture or a prayer to repeat that will guarantee the depression will stop? A WoF preacher once said that if you quote 5 scripture on healing, 5 times a day you would be healed. Because you are telling God what he said and use Faith Filled words, name it claim it. It is a sin to use antidepressants or see a secular counselor or shows a lack of faith in God. Also, my pastor said that God does not heal depression, it is something I have to do.

Step #1: Move to another church where they tell you that God loves you...

Step #2: Practice the very Presence of God and you will find that depression has no place to stand against you.

Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.
It sounds like to me that you are being prompted to speak out of your mouth what is not really being planted in abundance in your heart.

God is your only Deliverer and Healer and Savior.

There is no magical talisman or prayer mantra that will "cure" you of depression. You must realize that when you ask Christ to come and live His life through you and in you that you must yield to His life altogether.

Is Jesus depressed?
No.
Then why not allow Him to live His joy through you instead of your depression?

Galatians 3:19 - What then was the purpose of the Law? It was added because of transgressions and [to make men more conscious of the sinfulness] of sin; and it was intended to be in effect until the Seed (the Descendant, the Heir) should come, to and concerning Whom the promise had been made.

How do you "practice the presence of God"? Anyhow, I say depression, but I'm suppose to call it "being down". At the time, I was really down because I had my hours cut back at work for several weeks. It wasn't a chemical imbalance. Why do you think I should leave my church? The rest of the teachings are fine, its just that some CoG and pentecostal churches have some odd teachings about any kind of mental illnesses. If I could just quote something or say something right, God would hear me and do something . But I must not be doing something right and God is mad at me is all.

Well I wasn't delivered from Being Down, I was delivered from Depression. Call it what it is and stand on God's promises and truths, ie The Joy of the Lord is our Strength and God has not given us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of love and power and a strong mind, things like that.

Wow Debbi. Do you realize that it is impossible for God to be mad at you? It is impossible for Him to be disappointed in you? Do you understand that right where you are is right where God wants you?

All these things are perfect because God is perfect and that is the righteousness you have been given through our Lord and Saviour Jesus. Everything He is to the Father you now are.

It's really a pretty cool deal!

Grace, Mercy, and Peace,
Asaph

The Joy of the Lord is your strength. I agree, find a Word chuch that tells you that Jesus loves you and preaches the Word not opinion.

Now for the feeling down or depression. Jesus bore all your sorrows or feelings of downess, so you need to make the statement that "I have no right to be depressed or feel down!" Then begin to meditate on the jo of the Lord and say, "The Joy of the Lord is my strength, and it is bubbling up on the inside of me and overflowing. I got the joy of Jehovah in me!"

Then begin to laugh (I know you don't feel like it.) Laugh, laugh, laugh, laugh, and laugh. Turn on some word praise music and continue to praise and anytime you feel down say, No devil! I will not be down! No flesh I will not be down! I choose to be joyful, Ha Ha Ha Ha!"

He's given you beauty for ashes, the garment of praise for mourning and the OIL (Anointing) of JOY for sadness.

(Isa. 61:3)

The Joy of the Lord is Your Strength,

PS I wrote an article about this, you can find it at www.the-word.org at the archives under Your Right To Joy.

Sorry Debbi. Your Opening Post gave only few bits of information.

Still, your post does suggest that you are believing that God is angry with you and either you picked that up through your church or another ministry or by deducing from your experience with God and life.

God the Father is as pleased with you as He is with the Son. You are the Righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

Galatians 3:13 - For Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law being ,made a curse for us for it is written, Cursed is everyone that hangs on the tree.

Jesus has removed the wrath and the curse off of your life...

What you must do is begin to believe that He has removed the curse of poverty and change the belief system that God wants you or is directing you to be without money.

The devil caues lack and depravity, BUT our Father causes us toprosper and have divine favor.

It may be that God is wanting to provide for you through a different avenue.

Practicing the Presence of God - You simply spend time with Him and you move eveything else out of the way. You meditate on Who He is and What He has made you to become in Him. You Consecrate. You Abandon yourself. You rest in Him aone. You cease from your own belief and struggles. You allow Him to become your ALL in ALL. Contemplate on Him. Reflect on Him inwardly where dwells the Kingdom of God.

You will find all Resources where ever He is.

God does heal depression!!! He healed and delivered me from it & antidepressants. I agree with the previous posters in regards to finding a church that preaches the Truth and not mans opinion. It is NOT a sin to use antidepressants, and it doesn't mean that you are backslidden. It's a *illness* of the mind. God showed me that I had to change the way I think. My negative thinking resulted in negative emotions... hence emotions are brought on by thoughts. Praise music helped a lot also. Crank it up! He inhabits the praises of His people... and where He is, the enemy is not. It's something you have to fight, you can't just sit back and expect it to disappear all of the sudden. But God can and will heal you, all He asks is that we believe. Start digging up the healing Scriptures and speaking them over yourself. Try putting them on sticky notes in obvious places so you are constantly reading them. Rise up you mighty woman of God!!! Don't let the enemy rob you of your joy. I have overcome because of Christ and it's been over 5 years since I stopped taking the antidepressants and life is GOOD!!!

Hi Debbi now I want to give you just a few verses and not to say 5 times. But when you read them KNOW that he the GREAT I AM is talking to YOU. Remember when satan tempted Jesus. Well what did Jesus do? Jesus said "it is written". Well when this thing pops up do the same thing say it is written.

Deu 31:6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
Deu 31:8 And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.
Psa 107:19 Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses.
Isa 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
Isa 41:13 For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.
Mat 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Oh and God loves Doctors...

Hi Debbi, You might take a look at who you might need to forgive. Some times small resentments wear us down and after a while we can't remember where it all started. Maybe take a pencil and paper and make a list of people who have hurt or offended you and then go to them and ask them to forgive you for being angry with them. It works, it really does. It removes offense so Gods blessings can flow. To many times we decide to "just get over it" when all we have done is bury it.May grace and peace capture your heart.
