I wonder what would have happened to the prodigal son. It was said that for a short time he was not in his right mind.

Luk 15:17:
(GW) "Finally, he came to his senses. He said, 'How many of my father's hired men have more food than they can eat, while I'm starving to death here?
(ISV)"Then he came to his senses and said, 'How many of my father's hired men have more food than they can eat, and here I am starving to death!

(KJV) And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!

Barnes expands on the idea stating the man was insane.

Barnes Notes:

Luk 15:17 -
He came to himself - This is a very expressive phrase. It is commonly applied to one who has been "deranged," and when he recovers we say he has "come to himself." In this place it denotes that the folly of the young man was a kind of derangement - that he was insane. So it is of every sinner. Madness is in their hearts Ecc_9:3; they are estranged from God, and led, by the influence of evil passions, contrary to their better judgment and the decisions of a sound mind.

I wonder how many people who commit suicide are in this darkened state of mind. How would God respond to such a soul who in this darkened state of mind, took his own life?

Dids, He would respond in the same way He does to one of His kids who has not taken his own life. With Love an Compassion and Grace.

What some people might be missing is the fact that when God saved a person that later committed suicide, God knew that was going to happen before the foundations of the world were laid, and He saved them anyway. If I were to freak out tomorrow and take my own life it may shock everybody who knows me, but rest assured it would not shock God. And be doubly assured that that very day I was resting in the arms of our Loving Saviour.

The death of my Lord is sufficient to cover anything. I mean anything.

Grace, Mercy, and Peace,
Asaph

We seem to perceive our salvation as something that is based on what we do. One day you have it, the next day, its gone, all based on what you did in a 24hr period... If I've lost my senses, and took my life so now God has blotted out my name out of the Book of Life. A recreated Spirit, is done by God alone. He does not un-create something. Anyone that takes their life has to be mentally tormented by the devil. And why would God hold that against a person?

Does it also say that God left us a way out of that judgement of sin by way of asking for forgiveness? Well, my question would be to you, if the way to escape judgement of sin is to repent of it, tell me how can one ask forgiveness of murder if one is DEAD? Dead men don't talk, they face judgement either of good or of bad. If no sin will enter heaven and you commit sin against yourself and cannot repent of it, you tell me. I don't care if it's a minister or another saint who replies to this question you posted. I would be very carefull what answer I gave someone concerning this matter. Yes, it's terrible that someone would get so far entangled with warfare that they would allow a spirit of suicide to convince them that is their only answer ( I had a pastor friend that done the same, it was a very hard thing to go through.) Nevertheless, the scriptures do not change for anyone. the Bible says that if it were not for the shortening of the days, even the very ellect would be lost. That's why it is sooo important to continue praying, fasting & studying the Word to keep our thinking right and to keep that relationship with God open & fresh. There is no situation God cannot take us thru. If you know of anyone that is battelling that spirit, pray dillagently for them and be there for them, bind that spirit off them. I myself faced that spirit on more than one occasion when I was in a low state spiritually. I thank God for a great Pastor & great saints that interceded for me. I did not think I had the strength to go on after what I had gone thru and I asked God, "I am so weak, where is my strenght?" After that time of lowness, the Lord spoke & said "my Word is your strength, read my Word." That's why I say it is sooo important to read & study His Word, satan seeks to destroy whomever he can & will try anything, he would love nothing better than to cause someone to commit suicide, because once they do, he has them, & they can no longer be a threat to him of the possibility of reaching their family & friends and seeing them filled with the Holy Ghost and Baptized. He wants to keep all of us from reaching out to others. So don't be fooled by him & don't allow yourself to concider the idea that we make it into heaven for suicide, that's a trick of the devil. There is no exception for sin, Jesus paid the price for sin yet we still have to repent. If you tell a lie today, do you not have to repent? The Bible says ALL liars will have their place in the lake of fire, didn't it? I would say that is very plain spoken. NO SIN IN HEAVEN.
could you provide your scripture references please?

Ode to Victorian Rose: by Sir Mighty Halo

Many speak from here to yonder,
Many speak in prose;
Making sure that these words sing,
Is the job of Victorian Rose.

Thank you dear friend,

Ever read Foxx's Book of Martyrs? Some of these people in the book, chose death..What I mean by that, is when death wasn't immenent in their lives, they turned themselves over to be killed. They we're given choices on how they wanted to die, and some chose the worst way imaginable, it was a real donnybrook.. many many people we're under so much stress of the threat of death daily, life was no picnic for them, but life was a miserable daily existance.. so they chose to die. Now I'm not condoning suicide, but these people had not been arrested, charged with anything, sentenced for anything at all, but the threat of death hung in the air as a black cloud. They we're just tired of the fight, and gave their lives freely, hoping for a better resurrection.. to me some of these people basicly committed suicide. How we're they to know that God didnt have other plans for their lives?

Are you trying to say that people that commit suicide cannot enter heaven because they didn't have time to repent before they died?

So by your logic anyone that commited any type of sin and died before they had a chance to repent cannot go to heaven? Because you said " no sin in heaven" right?

So what was the purpose of Jesus then? Aren't you putting us back under the law so to speak?

Your are putting our salvation back under works.

By your logic, lets say Billy Graham is on his last legs in the hospital and the best looking nurse in the whole hospital walks by and for a split second he has lust in his heart and he has the unforunate luck to die right at the same time before he could repent, so its sorry Billy your going to hell now?

I can't buy it, Sorry!
