Hmmm, I reckon go with what you like, and yeah, you do get what you pay for so get something good now and don't pay later. As for being disassociated with Nirvana, why? were they particularly anti Christian? I myself have a Givson guitar, it's an Indian guitar ( I love the name rip off, so indian.. ). I tis a beaut, great tone, really versatile and only cost me £60 ($90). It really is top quality, but I guess you won't find one in America...
ho hum, Rock n Roll.

I can't see where that's made. Is it American or Made in Mexico? You can buy a NEW Mexican strat for $350. If it's made in the USA, it would seem to be a good deal.
I wouldn't buy it man it's a mexican strat. Not a good deal I would Pass. You can find an american strat scratch and dent for about 500 just keep looking.I'll take a look if I get time and give you a link. Also I have been playing for along time and I play alot and I'm in a band that tours so quality and the way an instrument holds up on the road is a big deal to me.If you are just learning or a casual player once in a while.A mexican strat wouldn't be that bad just not that one you can get a new one for that price. Before ordering from musicians freind I would go to a guitar center nearest you and try out some different guitars play them and see what you like.the feel of the neck may be a big factor for you.Strats are kinda thick and more rounded gibson's are wider but alot more flat stuff like that makes a big deal. You will probably find the best deal in musicians freind but atleast you will be familiar with the instrument you are choosing.Wow I'm windy hope that helps.

Reason: I was wrong
I play a Yamaha and the action on this is as sweet as any superprized axe. The sustain is better than many PRS and the finish is A1
BUT
It will never be a collectable as a real American Fender will be, and in time I will add that sunburst strat MADE IN AMERICA for this reason. It will be more expensive than my Yam and it most probably won't play as nice, but the bottom line is it will be a REAL Fender, and that can't be beat.
So if you can push the price, go for a real fender, and know it is for ever. For this reason I personally would steer away from scratch 'n dents.
well, maybe I can buy one after a few months, but right now I'm building a new engine/swapping my transmission and building a new fuel system for my car (one of my other hobbies ) I guess I'll just keep singing until I can get me another guitar, then I'll sing and play it
Or get yourself a cheap acoustic guitar to start practising on in the meantime. You can always then give it to someone else that would love to play but are to young/broke!! Or get yourself one of those practice necks, although I don't like them at all.
