Reps: 239 (power: 0) | | | Our pansies are only on the football field.
And you are correct, we do have the best physics program in the Ivy League.
Also go Crimson and go Cambridge. (undergrad and grad schools get a plug) |

Least I went to a grad school with a real physics program and a real football team (well, at least this year - "WE BROUGHT THE AXE")
Edit: This is suppose to be a joke - Cal football is usually a joke (well a joke compared to Pac 10 teams, they aren't compared to the Ivy League). This year they were actually half way decent (only team to beat USC in the country) which was a pleasant surprise.

Reps: 1,425 (power: 11) | | | BTW - Cambridge wouldn't want to play Cal at Rugby nor would they stand a chance against Cal at rowing. |

Cambridge would destroy an American college rugby team. Half the guys end up playing for England's national team.
Plus the Rowing team is usually world class. |

You do realize I meant Cambridge as in England.
England just won the World Cup of Rugby, and about 2/3 of the team went to Oxford or Cambridge. A couple of years ago the England team beat the US team like 109 -6 in Rugby and a bunch of the US team were ex Cal players. Cal would be destroyed if they played in England. I know they win the NCAA here but rugby is a different level entirely in England from here. |

They get creamed consistently by the US college teams, and Cal has been the best college rowing team for many years straight now (they recruit pretty much entire Eastern European teams). Cambridge can usually field a good eight, hell even a great eight - but nothing to match Cal which puts on the water an entire Olymipic/World Cup team (from multiple countries mind you) every time they go out for a practice.
Hell - I even beat Cambridge at Henley when I was at Dartmouth.
Maybe right about the rugby though. I don't know that much about the sport, but I do know that Cal consistently wins in the USA and I had heard they did well internationally too. I will try to find some info on when they played last.

But the Rugby no way. Cal wins the NCAA pretty often but how come the US suck at Rugby at the highest level.
And as i said - a lot of those guys at Cambridge and Oxford end up playing for England. |

This is one of the issues - Cal, Dartmouth, Harvard, etc only have undergrads in their boats. Oxford Rowing Club puts together a boat of elites that include mostly guys training for the National Team and are well older than undergrads (rowers hit their peak at about 26). If you want to compare the club teams, then you have to compare them to the elites here in the US, Vesper, Penn AC, etc. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | | | |
