What is a wife/husband to you?

What do you think they are to each other?

I was thinking last night about this. I thought along the lines of wrighting one of those "To my future wife" letters but think it would be better to post my thoughts like this. I will get into what they are to me. Forgive me if I speak like I am talking to a wife lol.

A husband is the Lover of the wife. He is to be like God is with the church. And what is God like? He forgives our tresspasses. He comforts us when we are sick. When we can reach no longer, He reaches for us. He keeps us in honor. The love of a husband is slow to anger. It lifts the wife up and holds her as more preatious than all else. He rejoices in her.

He is the head of the wife. Though he does not abuse the body, but rather cherishes it. He helps her in God. Helping her to be washed in the word. She is indeed his and he should do all he can to keep her. The head does not move without the body, and the body does not move without the head. He is in agreement with her. They are not two, but one.

As for a wife...she is the same. Loving her husband and doing all she can to keep him. Forgiving his trespasses. Comforting him when he is sick. She gives honor to him as the head. Not as someone who would use her dispitefully, but as the godly leader of the home. She is not her own to say no one can control her, just as the man is not his own. They are not their own to do as they please, but rather to do as the other pleases. This gives honor and satisfaction to both. Because each one only seeks the others good.

To me a wife and a husband are two people joined for life, that know the other one better than the know themselves. True friends who are in it for the long haul, and will always stick by each other. Hase you ever see two people who have been married for a while, and you can just tell they are close? There is just something about them that speaks volumes by just watching them. You can just tell that they know what the other one is thinking without even asking. They would just prefer to be dead as to live without the other one. That is really something.
