Habitual sin

I need help with this issue.
Because I just can't seem to stop.

I am sort of addicted to pornography. Well I know I am. And before I get to hear I need to go to counseling, I want to fix this myself, but it is very difficult.

Upon studying scripture I learned a lot, also that adultery is a sin, and most importantly, that I was doing it, and I made a habit out of it. Now I am fighting to overcome this and I have prayed so many times, asked God to fill me with the Holy Spirit and cure me of this. I want to get rid of this so bad.

While my body is screaming for it's desires, my heart and soul are screaming to Obey the Lord. And I want to serve Him, and be clean of habitual sin.

And I fear that, If I might die, or ww3 is about to break out in Syria and Jesus is coming back, I go to hell because of my habitual sin and I was not able to step away from my sin eventhough I really wanted to.

Please help

Hello Again,

God can do anything and will certainly help you with this. But sometimes He works through those He created such as counselors or therapists.

If you want to try and overcome this without counseling, I suggest you make an appointment with your pastor. I'm sure he's seen a number of people about sexual sin and spiritually, knows you better than anyone else.

Remember also, as much as is needed, to ask God to forgive you of your sins and repent of them. You know that He is faithful to forgive them.

I'm sure he'll welcome your appointment and give you good advice. Please feel free to write in here again using this thread if it's about this topic or through creating a new thread if it's about something else.

One problem though... Our church does not currently have a pastor/preacher or what ever you may call it. There is a youth worker since a couple months to teach the youth about the bible (this was the task of our pastor but he left), but I don't feel comfy discussing this topic with him. My old pastor moved, and now lives on the other side of the country... So what do you suggest?

Unless you can stop on your own and stay stopped then you need help with it. I've sought help for things before and although it might feel uncomfortable, if we are doing the right thing that is what we must do. So in the absence of a pastor and considering you don't want to talk to the youth pastor, then my recommendation is that you seek out counseling from a male, licensed professional counselor or licensed clinical social worker who is a Christian.

The sin can make your life miserable and put distance between you and the Lord. You don't want that.

Faithfully,
CH Sacerdote
