That seems a bit harsh on Ryan. His views may be wrong, but I'm not sure he is in the league of Palin.
Chris Christie is, overall, a good governor. I don't necessarily agree with him on most issues, but he is a straight shooter, who sticks to his core principles, and ultimately puts those core principles ahead of partisan politics.

It may have been harsh on Ryan, but not far from the truth. He doesn't say stupid things to the level of Palin, but he's yet to say anything that demonstrates him to be a deep thinker.

What America needs is a cross-party ticket. Dem Pres, Rep VP or vice versa, both moderates, who can actually try to unite the country. There are some (vocal minorities) on both sides that will never be reconciled, but i have no qualms about leaving them behind, as they're both "my way or the highway" folks.

I'm going to reluctantly agree with this assessment of Christie -- while I find his personality grating at times (he comes off as a bit of a blowhard), he gets things done.

You fail to realize that the world was, well, a completely different world 50 years ago. If you didn't notice, there was this little thing called the "cultural revolution". 50 years ago, we didn't have internet pornography, violence and all sorts of sexual images in movies, magazines and other media. We didn't have a 40% divorce rate, 40% child illegitimacy rate, a serious meth-addict problem and HIV AIDS. You guys talk like this never happened, like Dwight Eisenhower (or JFK for that matter) wouldn't be the least bit disturbed by the babymomma generation or the slacker culture. To bring up politicians from a by-gone era and say "they were liberal on this issue, therefore the GOP should be pro-choice, pro-marijuana, take God out of their platform, etc" without considering how the times, issues and the context that these politicians lived in has fundamentally changed is a failure to grasp the full picture.

Personally, I am going to keep a watch on Marco Rubio.

I like what they noted in Memo To Republican Insiders: If Marco Rubio Is Your First Answer, You're Asking The Wrong Question << Post - Modern Conservative:

A poll of Republican insiders reveals that Marco Rubio is the early favorite for 2016. I dont take it seriously as presidential election speculation, but I take it very seriously as evidence of the climate of opinion among Republican functionaries. It reveals a combination of panic and laziness. The thinking seems to be that since Republicans are having trouble with the growing, nonwhite fraction of the electorate, they should nominate Rubio because he is the The Latino Republican version of Obama/Kennedy he inspires, hes handsome, and whats not to like? Well if he is the Latino Obama/Kennedy

The Republican problem is not that their last ticket was a couple of white guys. The problem is that the entire center-right infrastructure is unable to communicate intelligibly to a large and growing fraction of the population. I know lots of people who dont know anything about Romney other than he was for the rich, tax cuts, and he was trying to take advantage of a lousy economy to win an election. A lot of the country hears almost nothing of what the center-right has to say and what they do hear in nonsense about job creators who really did build that and some bromides about opportunity that were unmoored from anything in their own lives What they have never heard is a pithy explanation about why any policy would make their lives better. That problem will be mitigated only very slightly and temporarily by picking Rubio for president. The whole idea of looking for a Republican Obama is discouraging because it is really just a search for a short cut to the hard work of winning people over.

Christie also busted over 100 corrupt politicians in NJ from both sides before he took over as governor.

At minimum, you know you are getting a guy who goes after corruption.

Name your poison.

With Rubio you lose the much needed fringe right and Tea Partiers who are under the delusion Romney wasn't far enough to their right.
