Why???????

Let me just preface with letting you all know that I am a Christian, Saved, and Baptized. I have been all my life. I'm 35 years old, a husband and father.

I'm active duty military, and for most of my life, I have not behaved like a Christian would, a follower of Christ. I am a sinner, and I continue to sin. I feel bad about it. I try and do better, but I always end up sinning again.

My wife and children are Saved and Baptized. My wife and I grew up in Baptist Churches. I really don't have a denomination anymore. I used to read the Bible all the time when I was a teenager.

Now on to my question. Whenever I hear a Christian song that touches my heart, I start to cry. When I talk to my Children about Jesus, I cry. When I pray, sometimes I cry. When I watch a movie, like King of Kings, or the Ten Commandments, or The Passion, or even a movie with peoples lives being touched by God, I cry. Not bawling per say, just tears streaming out.

I don't cry at any other time. I'm not an over emotional person. Some people find me rather stoic and have told me this.

When we sit in Church and a person gets up and sings a devotional to Jesus, I weep. I can't control it.

Why does this happen?

Why does this happen?
God is drawing you to Himself in a deeper way.
Your spirit man desires God above all and yet your fallen nature pulls away.

I believe that your Spirit man weeps before the Lord in intercession
and brokeness and longs for the Lord as he grieves over the loss of many
opportunities to draw closer to God and your sins.

It is good to humble yourself before the Lord and to be broken and
repentant before the Lord as your heart turns from stone to flesh again.

Rejoice in this process as it is from the Lord as He desires to bring you closer to
Himself as the old nature is being put down with all its sinful desires.

I went through a few years of this.....

It was liberating to let my spirit soar and be free to express love, joy
and tearful sorrow over my sins and failures and to allow a softening of my stoney heart.

It is healing....
It is a beginning of a change for the better.
It is God working in your life to take you foward.

Let the love of God flood your soul and weep for joy as He is
working a deep work in your very soul that will set you free
and bring about a closer walk with Him.

I use to weep to the point of having tears and snot running down my face
and I did not want it to stop as in that moment I was pouring out my very
self to the Lord, my true self, my spirit man who loves God with all
his strength, might and all...

It is being set free.......

I am sure many did not understand but I did not care.

I am a better man for these experiences and I have a greater desire
to follow the Lord no matter what than ever before, I wouldn't
trade those experiences for anything.

God bless you and may He continue to break off all the hardness of
your heart and bring healing, release, love, joy, peace and a renewed
heart of love for others and the Lord......

I agree with Pal, the Lord may be calling you home to a full relationship with him. Or is there something you've done that you can't feel forgiven for?

I am like you. I'm not a big crier but when I wholly worship Him tears come.

Why does this happen?
Brother the same exact thing happened to me for a long time. I noticed that I was desiring a closer relationship with God but wasent sure how to do it. Actually,I shouldn't say wasn't because I still am discovering how to get closer to Him.

When I was living my life far away from God what you describe happened AF the times you mentioned but my big thing was the music. My dad was in a gospel group and when I would hear him sing a praise song the tears started flowing. I discovered it was the Holy Spirit convicting me.

God loves you. Jesus is calling you home - to Himself.
You need to give up sins and fully commit to Jesus. You need Him, and He loves you

Seems like you got your answer lol. One thing though don't rely on your strength to stop sinning bcuz you'll end up doing it anyway lol. Just keep praising and thanking God and you'll gradually become more like Him

I'd add but everyone said what I would have lol.

It is indeed God drawing you in closer. I am a pretty mushy guy in general but at church I cry often now. Mind you I to wandered away from God for many years. Now that I am back I can feel his love and regret that I ever wandered so far away from a God that loves me endlessly, even while in times of rebellion.

Yes it is the Holy Spirit in you, He is quickening you. Whoever has the Holy Spirit, streams of living water will flow.

I asked God what these tears meant when I found myself crying in church. The Holy Spirit always points to Jesus.
