Petrafan we all have different beliefs and I personally believe that suicide is an UNFORGIVABLE sin! I agree with cutekid, I mean jesus died to forgive our sins, he didn't die so he could forgive us for throwing away our life, the chance to live that he gave us! I really think you need to stop posting on this subject if you are going to just argue with us. This was only something Debbi wrote needing to share it, and I respect that and so should you..
Tough questions.
As far as I know, the only unforgivable sin has to do with mocking the Holy Spirit. If there were more, I'm sure the Bible would tell us.
Obviously God doesn't want anyone to kill themselves or get killed before their time is up.
But I think suicide, like anything else you might try and regret later (assuming you fail to kill yourself), is forgivable. I'm doing loads of stuff I need forgiveness for, especially when I'm depressed or anxious or feel hopeless and helpless.
Furthermore, I really do understand why people kill themselves. I don't know every situation, but I know how it is when suicide seems like the only way out. I also know there's hope. Though I myself am not suicidal anymore, I don't desire to live on this planet. I believe a Christian who kills himself will go to heaven, just as if he died in some other way (let's say smoking or reckless driving killed him).
And it's a loss for us, but for him, what could be better than heaven? Sure, he shouldn't have killed himself, he didn't get to do everything God had planned for him (who does?), but on the other hand he won't have to suffer ever again.
I think part of the reason so many Christians condemn suicide so harshly is an irrational fear that people will think "well, I'll just kill myself" when things aren't going their way. I takes a lot to get to the point where you decide to end your own life, and even more to actually attempt it.
If suicide was unforgivable, I would currently be unforgiven myself, since I tried on two occasions but somehow was rescued.
ok I have one thing to say, WHATEVER! I mean I'm sick of writing here and it's really not helping my situation at the moment, talk to you later everyone
Whether it is forgivable or not, what is the purpose of encouraging suicide? If a person is discouraged from commiting it because they are concerned that they might not be forgiven, then let them have that concern-- especially if it is preventing them from committing the act!
2nd Timothy 2 23 Don't have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. 24 And the Lord's servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. 25 Those who oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, 26 and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.

I wrote the original post to encourage myself at a time I was really down and sometimes thought about suicide but decided against it . I didn't mean to have this turned into an argument over the right or wrong of a christian committing suicide. I am aware that alot of people get depressed or suicidal this time of the year. Can't somebody be a little more encouraging and less arguing? I'm a bit down right now and need encouraging but not being encouraged to kill myself. I'm sorry that this post ended up the way it did and started upsetting people who were already depressed.

Teen,
Why do you want to commit suicide? I know sometimes there isn't a concrete reason (I've been suicidal in the past), but sometimes there is.
Yours in Christ,
Jen

Another Bible verse says the only sin that is unforgivable is blasphemy against the holy spirit.
I'm not yelling, I'm chill don't worry. And anyone who thinks I am here saying suicide is "alright" better go back and read every post I made. I am not here trying to start trouble or get anyone more depressed. I am speaking the truth in love from what I have learned with life experiences and my understanding of the word. If you disagree, I'm sorry. I won't argue with anyone if they don't want me to , just don't yell at me please. Thanks
Yes,most of us know that suicide is wrong in the eyes of the Lord, but people who are having thoughts of suicide need LOVE,CARING,and someone to know you are there for them....not to debate the issue....My opinion...... Debbie,I will keep you in my prayers, try to stay strong and focused on the Lord,he will help you through..God Bless!
