Prayer for daughter

Please pray for my 24-year-old daughter, who has been addicted to heroin and has a compulsion to take things that aren't hers.

A praise is that she is clean right now.

A worry is that a former classmate from high school now accuses her of stealing from her. Our daughter claims she hasn't seen this classmate for two months.

Another worry is that our daughter now says she is in love with a 45-year-old man who is on probation for attempted robbery and suffers from bipolar disorder.

Our daughter has suffered from depression since high school. She takes an antidepressant, plus a medicine to keep her from craving opiates.

My husband (her father) and I never know what to believe and how much to hope. She's a beautiful and brilliant young woman, and we just hoped for the best for her--and still do.

I've felt so down all day, as if I'm grieving dreams for her that may not come true. My DH says he feels the same way.

I wish I could just feel thankful that she's clean and in love with someone who loves her back, but I'm so worried about the accusation and that she's going to end up in jail or just keep stealing, if that is what she has done. (Some of the people she has associated with over the last few years also lie, though, so our hope is that this classmate is lying.)

Thank you so much for your prayers. We love her so much but really don't know what we can do besides pray.

Thank you

Thank you, Saved. Your prayers mean a lot. I believe in prayer, but these days, I'm just not sure what to pray for. Now I'm worried that God has answered my prayer that my daughter would find someone wonderful to love and be loved by (a heartfelt prayer said after attending a wedding last weekend that left me feeling all "romantic" about future sons-in-law and all that). A man 20 years her senior wasn't exactly what I had in mind! It still doesn't seem quite right to me and her dad.

I'm still worried about the accusation from the classmate, but I'm just praying that people treat each other with kindness, whatever the situation may be, and that God protects my daughter from false accusations. If she has done something wrong, though, I pray she quickly makes amends.

But I hope and PRAY she hasn't done anything wrong.

I don't know what to think, but I've made it through another day and I am okay.

We celebrated my mother's 91st birthday today, so I had something happy to think about!

Thanks

Thank you, Rebecca. I will pray for you and yours, too.

My daughter just found out that she's pregnant, too. She's so happy about it, and it's wonderful to see her so happy and glowing, even though the circumstances aren't ideal.

Now our prayer is that she can withdraw from the medicine that keeps her from craving opiates and have a healthy pregnancy.

So much to pray about for both of us!

A Scripture I think about sometimes is John 1:5: "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."

In some translations, "overcome" is "understood" or "comprehend." It seems like grew up with this one, though, and I love it because it's so comforting.

I will hold onto it!

Babies are such a blessing! Praise God! Have you heard of the Tenboom sisters? Beside and Corrie? Here's their story: Belgium WWII. They were Christians and hid Jews in their home, got caught, and were sent to Ravensbrooke concentration camp. God provided them with a Bible, "even in the depths of hello" their barracks were infested with fleas and lice. In their first night there, Beside was giving thanks to the Lord for all of their small blessings, blankets, the Bible, being toge ther etc. but when she prayed for the nazis, Corrie got angry. She relented though when Beside reminded her to love her enemies. As Betsie continued to pray she even give God praise for the fleas, and Corrie had enough. "God does not expect me to be grateful for fleas" well, sometime later they found out that the only reason they had thier other blessings was because the SS officers wouldn't enter the barracks . because of the fleas. The moral of the story is "There is no pit so deep that he is not deeper still."The book and movie is called The Hiding Place. don't forget just like the Casting Crowns song says "The voice of truth tells me a different story, and the voice of truth says do not be afraid, and the voice of truth, says this is for My glory. out of all the voices calling out to me, I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth."

Rebecca,

I loved the story, and no, I've never read that, although I've heard of it.

Yeah, I'm feeling pretty at peace right now, and I'm really thankful for that. Maybe I'm finally done trying to tell God what to do.

I will pray for you and yours.

There is always hope, humble yourself before almighty God and pray without ceasing. I was a drug addict and have been clean for nearly two years and it is the doing of my Savior because I was beyond hope. If someone told me I could have the ultimate high but I would have to immediately trade my life for it I would have done it without a second thought that's how much drugs meant to me. There were concerned parties who prayed for me and they prompted my savior to save me and give me a better life than I had before the drugs. I known addicts in the shape I was in back then I don't know them anymore because they aren't, that's the depth my Savior rescued me from. Anyone can be rescued a lot of people just don't have enough good Christian people praying for them.

I hope everything I said was encouraging I said a couple of sad things not to bring anybody down just to show how far we can be lifted up. I have some pretty unique insights into addiction as well I wont share them in a forum because that are unconventional and I don't want to draw silly critisism, I only want to say these things if they can be useful to someone. One thing to always remember is you can't save the addict if you are a loved one they are already masters of manipulating you but they can't manipulate Jesus.
