Do cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. The weight will fall off.

Cardio Protocols

There a lot of ways to do cardio, but not all cardio is the same. Yes, moving is better than laying down or sitting still. However, when it comes to cardio, interval-based protocols work best. In other words, go from slow to fast and back to slow again. Switch to very fast and then back off to slow. There are specific timed intervals which can have a profound impact on your EPOC (excess post oxygen consumption)..which is the ability to BURN MORE calories after exercise. This is crucial for caloric expenditure. I would begin with a one minute fast, one minute slow transition on any piece of cardio equipment you like. Although, the treadmill is king for reasons I will not address here.

All the best!!

HIT High intensity training is good for losing weight and keeping muscle. Example would be warm up for 2-5 minutes, sprint for 30 seconds, walk for a minute or minute and a half, then sprint again for about 8 times.

In comparison marathon running makes a person skinny with little muscle.

Skipping ropes are a very good form of cardio and they get the heart going. Look into something called circuit training. Good luck
