Members of the Republicans’ National Committee from across the country may be on the verge of a messy fight over party rules on the very same day they are poised to crown Mitt Romney as their presidential nominee.
At issue is whether presidential candidates can effectively pick and choose the delegates who attend the convention. Opponents of a new party rule have called it “the biggest power grab in the history of the Republican Party” while supporters are hoping to avoid a public dispute on the convention floor during a week meant to promote unity.

Well this presents a dilemma now doesn't it? Regardless, no delegate should be forced out of a convention on the basis that they don't agree with the elected nominee. However, Ron Paul lost and while I don't think that delegates should be forced out, the delegates causing the controversy need to act like adults in this situation.
I say good for the delegates that are not just sitting idly by and letting the "majority" make up rules that benefit them and their "leader." Let the delegates fight it out on the Convention floor. After all it is a convention, not a coronation.

LOL ... if there had been any doubt about how much the Republican establishment fears Ron Paul and/or the TEA party, this offers some pretty clear evidence of it.
“The leadership of the Republican National Committee and the Romney for President campaign has heard the concerns of the conservative grassroots voices in our party and has crafted an amendment to the Rules adopted on Friday to address these concerns,” Bopp wrote in an email to Republican National Committee members. “At the same time, the revised language closes a loophole in our party rules, which previously failed to include a penalty for delegates who break their promise to vote for a particular Presidential candidate as required by state law or state party rules.”
... The compromise language simply states that delegates must vote for the candidates to whom they are bound, Bopp said. If not, they’ll be kicked out of future conventions and votes will be cast on their behalf.
It appears that some "assurance" there wouldn't be a Ron Paul Revolution at the convention is all that was really wanted.

Rev 19:9-10 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God. And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

But of course -- the last thing the GOP wants is for the peons to step out of line.

LOL ...
Hi, Valentine.
Let me tell you about the 1968 Democrat convention. The Democrat party unseated the entire Mississippi delegation ... and replaced it with hand-picked favorites.
Sad, but true.
Talk about totalitarian and toeing the line ... that seems to be the Democrat party. Step out of line, you're stripped of seniority. Did you know that, Valentine?
In contrast, the Republican party resolved this issue amicably ... some would say in win-win fashion.

I know the year is 2012, not 1968 -- did you know that, Hawk?

Yep ... and the Democrat party is still playing 1960's Chicago heavy-handed politics.
Did I mention that the 1968 convention was in Chicago?
The heavy-handed politics of the American "left" haven't changed much over the years.
