Christians, rebuke TS Issac as it approaches Florida.

People who are in the path of tropical storm Issac should protect their loved ones, their animals and their property by rebuking the storm. See the example from Luke 8:22-25. It is also in Matthew and Mark.

22 Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth.
23 But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.
24 And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.
25 And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.(KJV)

When I was a new Christian, I got caught up in the Word of Faith movement. We used to do silly things like this, too.

I remember being at the Creation Festival and "rebuking" and "binding" a storm. Of course, it never occurred to us that God may have been sending the storm as an answer to prayer for some poor local farmer who's crops needed rain.

I'm confused. Did God send the storm to interrupt the RNC because He thinks the RNC is evil, He thinks the RNC needs a wake-up call, or He thinks any group who holds a convention in FL during hurricane season are asking for it?

Could someone please ask Pat Rob. to explain God's hurricane message for us?

The smarter thing to do would be boarding up your windows, securing lawn furniture and ornaments, stocking up on emergency supplies, and knowing your evacuation routes.

That may work if enough people believe, and are truly faithful. You would have to get people whose faith wouldn't be shaken by the incredible hauteur, and hackneyed displays of disdain and sarcasm many people express for Christian faith.

Personally, I think you would have to think about if what you are asking for is out of fear, vanity, etc., or whether or not it is something God would actually will. Like Publius said, the storm could be allowed to occur so that someone else's prayers can be answered. It can at the same time be a time of testing for believers - as in a Job type of testing.

Pray for God's will, I would say. I think if you are His child it won't matter if a Cat 5 happens, God will protect you and provide for you. Though, He may try you to fashion you for the better in the future.

That's a nice out. When it inevitably won't work, it's because not enough truly faithful people believed.

Or, because someone else's prayers are being answered. Or, because it is meant to happen. Or...

If you aren't going to be one of those haughty, hackneyed, sarcastic, disdainful people I mentioned, at least make sure you comprehend the whole of an argument. Otherwise, take pride in being...who you are.

You didn't actually prove me wrong about anything though. If Isaac changes course, these Christians will take credit. If it stays on course, then it will be any matter of excuse other than the fact that their rebuke doesn't actually affect the weather.

Indeed - this is an argument colloquially referred to as being 'not even wrong'.

Please rebuke it over here to Texas. We could really use the rain.
