I love flowers, they are God's natural jewels, his works of art. I write poems about nature as God's glory, and flowers are frequent subjects in my nature praise poetry. I also draw and paint, and I use flowers as subjects. Sometimes I draw pictures of ladies with flowers. I also grow flowers in my yard and collect press flowers.
There are so many flowers that I like that it is hard to choose just one as a favorite. My favorites include of course the queen of fowers the rose, lilies, lilacs, orchids, magnolias, hydrangeas and sunflowers. Actually my favorite might be waterlilies. I also like irises, tulips, daffodils, hyacinth, lily of the valley, foxglove, forget-me-not, azaleas, cherry blossom, snapdragon, sweet pea, hollyhocks, gardenia, honeysuckle, jasmine, plumeria, wisteria, gardenia, apple blossom orange blossom, blue bonnet, and bluebell.
Well, I guess you could say I like all kinds of flowers, but I am not at all fond of carnations or daisies or mums. I guess they are just to plain and ordinary to me. Actually I think daisies are cute, but I prefer other flowers that are fancier. I like sunflowers and black-eyed Susans. I've always wondered if black eyed Susans were named after a girl named Susan.
I sometimes pick flowers growing in the woodsy areas of my neighborhood where it has not been developed when I take a walk. There are a few vacant lots with overgrown bushes, trees and grass. I hope they keep these places the way they are for nature and do not cut them down for more houses. WHen I first moved into my neighborhood in high school the lots next door to the left and behind us were woods. Then the neighborhood developers decided to clear them and build houses. At first our new neighbors were friendly but now they are difficult and unpleasant and unfriendly. They drink a lot of beer, I think the man is an alcoholic.
There used to be plenty of scrub jays, a little bird in south Florida like a blue jay that is now endangered, it is cute, small and has some blue feathers. I saw scrub jays a lot before the wooded areas were cleared. I went out and fed them with bred crumbs when I was in high school. I think it's ok to feed birds, but definitely don't ever feed alligators, that is a very stupid thing to do, the alliagator becomes dangerous and associates people with food. It is against the law to feed alligators becasue the alligator could bite or eat you, or could bite or eat someone else. Alligators become aggressive and dangerous when fed.
THere are pretty wils flowers in Florida, you have to know where to look for them. I've heard there are some exotic beautiful orchids in the everglades, some people illegally steal them and sell them on the black market. I'm scared to take a tour of the eveglades, not only do you have alligators and the regular Florida snakes, you have all these big pythons that came from the exotic pet trade, people got them from Asia as pets and then when they couldn't handle these big constrictor snakes they released them into the wild and the snakes went into the everglades and lived there and took over and terrorized the native population. What kind of nut wants a snake for a pet anyway?
There are pretty flowers that grow in the water, in the swamps, I've seen pretty flowers growing in the ditches here where I live. Like we have problems with invasive foreign animals we also have problems with invasive foreign plants that are brought over form other countries, like Asia or Africa, Europe South America or Australia they are pretty plants but they take over and flush out the native species and are bad for the environment and ecosystem. People are encouraged to plant native flowers, trees and plants in there Florida gardens. It is eve agains the law to plant certain kind of invasive species of plants. Sometimes communities go to great trouble to dig up the exotic invader species.

I would like to get a field guide book on wild flowers of North America. I have some wild flower books already. I love all kinds of flowers. I must do some art with my pressed flowers.
