Simple, find what error in your life opened the door and close it by repentance then seek healing.

For example, I had both my sister-in-laws come down with cancer. One tried for healing for two years and died of breast cancer. She refused to admit she was in error even when confronted with her sin. The other sister-in-law got colon cancer. She tried for healing many times with no effect until a Word of Knowledge revealed she was harboring bitterness and anger. She repented of it then got healed and is cancer free.

So one died and one was healed. The repentant one was healed. The meddlesome busybody died after refusing to repent for two years.

Not quite sure what you mean as far as take on it... We believe that God still heals people today, as He did in ages past, as He will in the future. God never changes (Hebrews 13:8; Malachi 3:6) and His very nature is to heal people (Psalms 103:2-3; Exodus 15:26) Jesus when He was here on Earth was the exact representation and expression of God's will for us in physical, human form (Colossians 1:15-20; Hebrews 1:3) So when Jesus walked around and healed people, He was and still is (Hebrews 13:8; Malachi 3:6) showing us that God wants to heal us. He was able to do so because of His eventual death, as His suffering and death paid for not just our sins but also our sicknesses and diseases (Matthew 8:17; Isaiah 53:4) In John 20:21, Jesus says that He sends us as the Father sent Him, and in 1 John 3:8 we find Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil, and in John 10:10 we find that the works of the devil are all results of the fall of man and sin (STEAL our health, KILL our bodies, DESTROY our souls) Jesus empowers us, through authority given as believers in faith (Luke 10:19; Matthew 10:7-8; John 14:12-14) and the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8; Luke 24:49) to overcome satan and the effects of sin in the lives of others. Now, not all people who are prayed for are healed, only God knows why. In fact, Elisha was a man, a prophet who God used to bring miraculous healing into others, and yet Elisha himself died from a disease. Paul did many miraculous things, but he told Timothy to drink a little wine for his stomach's sake (an infirmity) and while never mentioned, it's highly unlikely that Paul never tried to minister healing into Timothy, but as far as scriptures are concerned we are never told if Timothy was or wasn't healed. So those who claim healing isn't for today because they weren't or aren't being healed are really missing the point. Actually Deuteronomy 29:29 says that the secret things belong to the Lord, so it's not ours to fret over. Always have faith that He can heal and will, because even death is considered by some as healing considering for those who believe, we are transformed from this corruptible being into an incorruptible.

Just a couple personal testimonies about physical bodily healing:

--I once laid hands on an individual in church, along with my Pastor, and this individual was near paralyzed from a work accident that shattered his back. Couldn't walk without a cane, couldn't even stand without a cane, and took very small and slow steps. He came forward, we prayed for him, I felt this ball of electricity almost come out of my chest and through my arm into this man, and the next week he came running into the church jumping up and down and was completely healed.

--One night at work while pulling a 24 hour shift, I was talking to my wife who was starting to come down with strep throat and told me her throat was swelling up. Well over the phone I instructed her to lay hands on her throat as I prayed for her, and the first prayer (before Bible study) in the middle of the prayer her throat swelling went completely away. Then after Bible study she told me her throat was still somewhat sore so we prayed again in the same method, and this time all the pain went away.

--Just the other day at home, I was talking to my wife after she had been working outside on some gardening things. Her hand and wrist were starting to swell and become stiff and she told me it was very painful. She could hardly move it either. She had a wrap on but it wasn't working by her account. So I prayed for her wrist a few times after unwrapping her wrist, and after about the 3rd or 4th prayer (none of which were long at all) she was able to move her wrist in all directions and manners as before without any pain.

--My most precious testimony of healing and I could write a book on it, but I'll keep it to 2-3 sentences happened about 2 years ago. After falling into deep depression and anxiety disorders, I was in the hospital for a month after expressing suicidal things. Months of therapy did nothing for me then one day in a grocery store the Lord quoted Proverbs 3:5-6 to me in an audible voice, twice. The second time He gave me a quick little devotional/sermon and I gave my life to Him and was instantly healed from that darkness. I could feel the sickness, the demons come off me.

I'm sure many more here could testify of much greater things the Lord has done for them or through them. Healing is for today, for all who have faith in the Lord, as a means of confirming His Word and Love for us.

I wonder what Job's mistake was...

Very cool stuff. Here is one thing that I am wondering. Does the pentacostal/charismatic view hold that God will ALWAYS heal?

You ask for healing and sometimes He does, and sometimes He doesn't.

I am not sure I have ever heard a pentacostal/charismatic Christian hold this view. Are you responding with the view of the church or your own personal views or the views of your own fellowship/church?

I'm responding to the way I see in scripture where some are healed and some are not, and the way I've seen some prayed for and some are healed and some are not, and the way I've prayed for healings and some have been healed, and some have not.

From what I've heard from my pastor, he holds the same view, although he and I have never discussed this specific topic face to face.

Actually Job is a different situation IMO. By my understanding, the problems for Job occurred during the time of the Exodus. Yah had Satan focused on attacking Job while Yah freed the people of Israel from bondage in Egypt. The plagues Satan sent against Job also spilled over on Egypt and Yah used them to free Israel.

Many of the plagues of Egypt are mentioned in Job. There is also a reference to the rivers of melted mana while Job is sitting on his ash heap. On top of that, Eliphaz, one of the elder friends of Job was Esau's eldest son. That places the time frame of the event. Yah used Job's suffering to bring about a greater good then restored even greater blessing on Job afterwards.

Job had Yah's hedge of protection to begin with. Yah removed it for a purpose, not due to error in Job's life.

Job is a commonly misunderstood story. It helps to study it in the Hebrew. Job's friends were not followers of YHVH. They were pagans. This is much easier to see in the Hebrew verses the English translations. Several different words are translated as 'God' but when the friends of Job are speaking, they are following 'gods'. For example, Eliphaz is a sun god worshiper. He even states his god traverses the heavens/sky but can't see through dark clouds. The doctrine he spouts is directly out of Bablyonian sun god worship. Eliphaz was also the son of a Canaanite wife of Esau. His doctrine is a mixture of Yah and paganism via his mother. Eliphaz is telling Job to bow down to Satan to get the attacks against him to stop. The 3 so-called friends of Job are just further attacks sent by Satan against Job.

Since charisma is not a denomination, there is no official stance on a lot of issues. Obviously, the issues that differentiate us from other sects is that we believe that the book of Acts gave a true account when it showed believers being baptized in the Spirit as a separate event from conversion, and the gifts of the Spirit are still fully active and profitable. But not everyone on this sub forum believes the book of Acts on the subject.
