If you don't want to discuss it openly, we can PM. (No cranks please).

Or do you want to ignore reality and look for some kind of spooky probably-doesn't-exist stuff instead?

I've always found the idea quite funny in how childish it seems.
Reinforces a "blame others" mentality.

No, it's something much more profound than that. It's not about blaming someone else for our sins (we're not talking about sins here), but being attacked.

If so, demons don't exist.

I'm talking from my personal experience of witnessing people talking about being attacked by demons/Satan.
I most often see it done in retrospect, very much coming off as an excuse for why they sinned. For example: "I had felt tempted to sin, it must of been demons/Satan attacking me."
(I would think blaming their fallen nature would be more in line with common Christian beliefs.)
I'm not sure i've seen/heard demons/Satan talked about or experienced in any other way...beyond demonic possession, and controlling people/groups of people the Christian saying such doesn't like.

Ah, I see what you mean. I don't think that's what SBG was talking about though. I think the biblical view of sin is that we are tempted by our own desires:
"Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions". James 1:14
External sources may cajole us into sinning, but in line with the gift of free will we are responsible for our own actions.
Anyway, what I think he means is something like the story in Mark 5:1-13.
In China there are rich folk beliefs about and worship of spirits and demons. Many traditional Chinese households have altars where these are worshipped. When their worshippers turn to Christ the demons can kick up a fuss.
I know this will sound incredible to Western minds, but I know of two cases in my churches (once here and once in Hong Kong) where people have been disturbed by demons - not tempted, but disturbed. In both cases exorcism was carried out (again, try not to picture it in terms of a Hollywood thriller or horror film) and the household idols got rid of. Then it stopped and the people in both cases were fine in the end.
I do not expect to be believed, but as far as I am aware those were what I have seen and heard first-hand.
