Which day of the Week is the Bible Sabbath?

The question came up here -

According to the Bible --

What day did Christ rise from the dead? Luke 24:1, 13, 21 -- the first day of the week. Week day 1.

What day of the week do Jews celebrate as the 7th day of the week?

What day of the week do Christians celebrate as the day of Christ's resurrection?

What day of the week was Christ keeping as the Sabbath in Luke 4:16?

What is the best text in the Bible showing that the 7th day is the Sabbath? (Genesis 2:1-3, Exodus 20:8-11)

Could the Jews have picked any day they wish as "day 7"?? Exodus 16:23-27 God identified the day of the week for them - they had no choice in the matter.

What is the best text in the Bible showing that the first day of the week is the Sabbath?

What did D.L. Moody believe about the continuation of the Sabbath Commandment?

in Christ,

Bob

Which is better -- man-made tradition of your favorite magisterium - or the Word of God?

What was Christ's view of the comparison?

Mark 7
6 And He said to them, “Rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written:‘ This people honors Me with their lips,
But their heart is far away from Me.
7 ‘ But in vain do they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the precepts of men.

8 Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men.
9 He was also saying to them, “You are experts at setting aside the commandment of God in order to keep your tradition.

10 For Moses said, ‘ Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘ He who speaks evil of father or mother, is to be put to death’;

11 but you say, ‘If a man says to his father or his mother, whatever I have that would help you is Corban (that is to say, given to God),’ 12 you no longer permit him to do anything for his father or his mother;

13 thus invalidating the word of God by your tradition which you have handed down; and you do many things such as that.”
Serious enough for the saints to take notice.

in Christ,

Bob

Which raises an even bigger question--

How many nearly-identical threads does it take for Seventh-Day Adventists to tell everyone here that their church thinks everyone should worship on Saturday rather than Sunday?

The day does not matter. The resurrection does though.

What day of the week do Jews celebrate as the 7th day of the week?
Again it does not matter even if they are Christian Jews.

Ditto above comments.

Who cares the Christian is not obligated to that covenant.

Could the Jews have picked any day they wish as "day 7"?? Exodus 16:23-27 God identified the day of the week for them - they had no choice in the matter.
What is the purpose of discussing something that does not apply to Christians?

What is the best text in the Bible showing that the first day of the week is the Sabbath?
Who cares??

What did D.L. Moody believe about the continuation of the Sabbath Commandment?
Do not rightly know. OTH it has been shown that he observed Sunday via quote.

So are you even remotely suggesting that God will not accept worship on Sunday or some such silliness?

What day is the Sabbath in the Bible? Saturday.

However, what day have Christians, including the Apostles themselves, regularly met upon in order to worship Christ? Sunday.

Moot question is moot.

Did they only meet on Sunday to worship Christ?

They would have continued to meet at the Synagogue and at the Temple...
...Continuing to show from the Scriptures that Jesus was indeed the Christ.
...However the Christians would not have celebrated the Lord's Supper at either place.

Scripture says Christians were called to assemble THEMSELVES together...
...This specific "Christian assembly" was held on the 1st day of the week.

Unlikely.

But it was a specific day called aside for that unique purpose right from the beginning, and has remained so since then.

There is no law saying we have to meet on Sunday, we could gather every day, gather twice a week on Wednesdays and Thursdays; whatever. It's just that we have always gathered together on the first day of the week. Not according to Divine Mandate, but rather according to apostolic custom.

As you may have noticed from the opening video - not everyone is aware of that.

No question about that going on for centuries - but not in the first century.

In the first century you find Sabbath after Sabbath gospel sermons to both Jews and Gentiles in Acts 13, and Acts 17 and even the Jerusalem church admits to this fact in Acts 15. Turns out -- the Jerusalem Church leaders were all Christians

Things were very different in the first century.

in Christ,

Bob
