In light of recent events involving the father who beat a man to death when he found the man molesting his daughter, and the news story that just broke about Adam Brown I am putting a call out to my fellow brethren in regard to what our biblical duty is in regard to protecting our family, in addition to guiding them toward finding their salvation in Jesus Christ.
Are we called to defend our families with extreme prejudice, including possible use of lethal force, or are we to allow the secular "justice" system handle it?
What are your thoughts?

I understand where people are going when they claim self defense, but it sure seems like a lack of self control to go overboard and beat someone to death. We should learn to control ourselves.
Even physical force is a shaky area. We are sinners, we rarely have self control. I wouldn't trust myself to use an "appropriate" amount of physical force.
Of course, I'm speaking without having experienced such a thing...

If I could stop my daughter from being moletested and possibly killed, I would be willing to go to jail for that. Having lived a pretty serious street life in my younger years I might have a bit more thug in me than some of you. I have been in altercations even unto gunpoint and already know what I am capable of doing to protect my own life and I have no doubt that I would be the one begging for mercy in court, should such a thing have happened to my child.
I know that I could not just stand there and watch and "turn the other cheek" I'm just not that mature a christian. I got too much Peter in me.
