Vatican sides with Fr. Frank Pavone in appeal of suspension; Amarillo bishop to...

...keep him in restricted chaplaincy but allow pro-life apostolate on case-by-case basis

Vatican: “Father Pavone is not now nor has ever been suspended”

That’s the statement being put out by Priests for Life:
We are happy to announce that the Vatican has upheld Father Frank Pavone’s appeal and has declared that Father Pavone is not now nor has ever been suspended. Father Pavone remains a priest in good standing all over the world.
We were confident all along that a just decision would be made by the Vatican’s Congregation for the Clergy. While we fully agree that Bishop Zurek has rightful authority over the priests of his diocese, we also see the urgent need for Father Pavone to be allowed to conduct his priestly ministry outside the diocese of Amarillo for the good of the pro-life movement.
However, last week, Bishop Zurek had this to say:
Continued-

A little ambiguous. Why doesn't the Vatican ever speak in clear and unambiguous language. Does the Vatican intend on the language of ambiguity to appease all sides ?

Drives me nuts. It sounds like waffling to me. The RCC has too much red tape & religious politicos.

I agree, it is starting to seem as if they can't make a clear and concise ruling on anything. I don't even care if I agree, but I would like to know where they stand on a particular issue. It often comes across as lawyer-speak.

It is legalese & the Church wonders why people see it as cold? Some of the things that have occurred in the Church could had been corrected in short order but as I said, too much red tape & religious politicos. I am up to here with with that aspect of the Church.

Yep; I agree as well. None of them can be clear. It's all round-about double-speak.

Seems perfectly clear to me--it's just as Bishop Zucker said, Father Pavone is a priest in good standing *and* will be allowed by the Bishop's discretion to continue in his Pro-Life Ministry.

No. His bishop is just putting up road blocks and obstacles to essentially impede or totally destroy his ministry. His so-called, 'case by case basis' is Modern Double-speak for 'I will thwart you at every angle until you give up this "pro-life ministry" of yours of which I do not approve'. Since the Vatican has ruled on Pavone's side, the bishop knows that he cannot openly oppose Rome on this issue. However, behind the scenes, he'll do all that he can to frustrate or cause the good Father to abandon his diocese or otherwise force him to be incardinated elsewhere. It's politicking 101. When Libs see a 'conservative' [read: orthodox] priest, this is what they do. Try to thwart anyway they can any success or full operation of their ministry. They know that folks will abandon their Liberal parishes and liberal works for the conservative priests and causes. Hence, any way to keep them from that which is orthodox and to keep them in the dark and remaining in Liberalism.
