Maybe you believe the Bible is the Word of God, at least metaphorically.
Maybe you believe both of these things.
Maybe you believe Jesus Christ the incarnated Logos of God is a book, and the Bible is your God.
Let us know what you think. |

I am not looking to debate anyone, I am just curious. I figured such a poll would offend too many people in other parts of the forums, so I posted it here.
Everything does not have to be a debate here.
I'm getting disillusioned with the church I am at where they seem to worship the Bible more than the God of the Bible. Its a KJV-only, fundamental church whose attitudes toward the KJV Bible border on bibliolatry.
I am wondering if any of you have noticed the same confusion regarding the Word that I have noticed in others. Some would go so far as to say that Christ and the Bible are one and the same, which is blasphemous.
I believe the Bible could metaphorically be called the word of God (lowercase w), being His revealed will toward mankind, but that the Word (uppercase W) is the Logos, which was incarnated in the person of Jesus Christ.
Again, I am not trying to start an argument, I am just trying to see what people think about this. |

A few of here are Christian Gnostic. We use the Gospels, primarily John and Matthew, and some of the letters of Paul, along with some of our own scripture. We check with the scriptures we use to gain some insight into our experiences so that we can reconcile it in a way that is harmonious with the Spirit of Wisdom and ensure that we are not going off on our own without Divine guidance.

Gnosis(direct experiential knowledge of God) It's not an "oh cool I'm a god" type thing. It's a calling up everybody you have ever known since childhood and apologizing for being a JERK type thing.~ Bro. Spark Find Sophia's match for you at Gnosticmingle.com<-Not a real link "Duh" |

First off, Gnostics using their "own scripture" just shows how false they are....
Second, There is only 1 Word of God.......and that is Christ.....
The bible could be called the "words of God".....or the "testimonies about God"......but not the Word of God...........
I always ask people "What does it say in John 1, surely according to you, since you believe the bible is the Word of God, then it should read"
In the beginning was the Bible, and the Bible was with God, and the Bible was God....
^is that what John 1 says?
I rest my case. |

A person doesn't need a Bible, a priest, or a church to follow Christ. Why does it matter to you if we read from different texts?
