Can our loved ones who have died see us?

I just had a question about our christian loved ones once they are in heaven, and I didn't know where to ask. I don't know if it is possible to answer but I was wondering if there is any information anywhere in scripture that I might have overlooked. I know that we will know each other and recognize each other in heaven, but most of the people I know have different opinions on whether or not our loved ones who have passed away are watching us from above while we are still alive.can they see us (some people seem to think they are almost like guardian angels)or are they unaware and just waiting for us and for God's will be to be done? thank you for any response,I'm very curious about this.

Here is a take on this from a good Christian Question/Answer site called gotquestions.org

First though I am personally conflicted about this. I like to think that they can and that because they are perfect and in heaven that they will not experience pain from seeing bad things happening to us. I prefer to think they will experience an understanding and love for us here that they will be able to deal with because they are perfect and with God. But the reference I'm going to give you also makes a lot of sense. I think you should decide this for yourself unless it directly conflicts with scripture. Here it is.

Can people in heaven look down and see us?
