Obama: Too busy to help Wisconsin Democrats in recall election

Obama: Too busy to help Wisconsin Democrats in recall election | The Ticket - Yahoo! News

President Barack Obama explained in a radio interview Monday why he didn't do more to help Wisconsin Democrats in their battle to recall Republican Governor Scott Walker: He was too busy.

I don't know if Obama is the first pres. to ever do this, but even if he's not, the very idea of the chief executive of this country trying to oust a chief executive of a state in this same country is downright disgraceful. Shame on him! He should have remained publicly neutral in this matter, even if privately he detests Walker. The pres. represents the interests of this country, unlike a state governor. The pres. is supposed to be above this type of political fighting. Too bad he wasn't.

So, you're mad at Obama because he didn't help the recall effort in Wisconsin?

What would the man have to do, short of suicide, to make you happy with his [in]action?

He's mad because of what Obama might have done. Like all those times Obama could have kicked puppies. That would have been disgusting. There's no end to the the terrible things Republicans can imagine Obama doing.

Honestly, I don't think Obama should have even been neutral. I think he should've said that recall elections are not a "sore loser vote," where you cut into a guy's term as defined by the state's constitution ONLY because you don't like him. Too many people in this country think that "office x disagrees with me" is grounds for impeachment or removal and it is not.
That said, I'm not sure how you can accuse Obama of political fighting when he really didn't do anything.

Agreed with this.

Really, I can't recall him saying much of anything about it. Not sure how much more neutral you can get.

According to the article, Obama was explaining why he didn't do more to help in the recall vote. It's clear, at least to me, that he would have done more had he not been so "busy". He wanted Walker to lose and if he had the time, he would have done more. At least that's what he was implying. It's that that I'm commenting on, not how much he actually did or didn't do. IOW, he was willing to assist in ousting Walker if he weren't so doggone busy. I thought my article quote right after the link illustrated why I was unhappy with the pres., but maybe that was missed.

First, Pres. Obama wasn't trying to oust walker. Certain voters of Wisconsin initiated a recall. Every President will campaign in Gubernatorial and Congressional races when asked and deemed helpful.

Ok, of course he didn't initiate the recall procedure, and that technically he could say that he was just helping out a fellow Democrat win election, but this wasn't your average, run of the mill, every four years gubanatorial election. Rather, it was an effort to fire the seating governor before his term expired for, not surprisingly, very political reasons. Any sitting pres. ought to distance himself from such an election in order to maintain some semblance of representing the nation.

Perhaps in an ideal world... but no President that has ever served or any of the current or past 2012 candidates from the GOP would do as you suggest.
