I know, too existential. Sorry.
The bolded: What an articulate description.
Yes, I see what you're saying.

That seems to me a good and balanced approach to take. |

Who am I at church? Only who I wish I could be the rest of the time. C.S. Lewis compares it to kids pretending to be cowboys and doctors... you know, practicing to be adults. We are who we think we should be when at church.
The place I feel the fakest and dirtiest is at work.
But the real reason I replied was to say that I do get your point. I am the one who is fake, not the people around me. Who is the chief of sinners? That would be me. So I apologize if I distracted from your point. It was a good one.

I have to swallow my pride like you can't believe and compromise my ethics as well as fake enthusiasm or acceptance A LOT. Tough road to hoe.....
And listening to all the teachers who divorce over and over, shack up, have kids out of wedlock, reading "Da Vinci Code" novels, that "I'm not religious, I'm spiritual" nonsense....sigh Originally Posted by Protoevangel The place I feel the fakest and dirtiest is at work. |

I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates the phrase "I'm spiritual and not religious."

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. |

Yes, I agree. I find communion a very effective means of revelation.
