Just curious, and I'd be shocked if it were true, but has anyone ever heard of Christians who are equestrians (ride horses)?
My (extensive) experience in the horse world is that everyone would rather spend Sunday morning recovering from their hangover than hear about God... despite my best efforts... *sigh* and people in Church either find horses terrifying or filthy.
If anyone has evidence to the contrary, I'd really like to know. It's kind of lonely when there's not a single other believer who shares your hobby, and vice versa. I have no idea why.
Do you ride English or Western?
I ride both, but usually I'm casual in bareback. I love riding outside the most, we have some great trails around here.
I haven't riden in awhile because of a back problem, but I hope to find my way back this summer!

Wow, I didn't expect anyone to reply. I'm pretty intense on showjumping, but I'm always up for any excuse to bet on a horse lol. I'm sorry to hear about your back... I hate when injury leaves me out of the saddle for any length of time. But yep, with any luck you'll be back riding soon!

Hi!! SO exciting to hear there is another Christian Show Jumper! I also compete very competitively and completely understand where you are coming from. What is your next show? I would love to get a Bible study going at the shows for believers. I think there are many others out there but since the sport discourages it so much there is a shyness that I want ot break through. Please let me know your thoughts!

Thanks I'm glad to learn I'm not the only one! I do Saugerties while I'm up here in Toronto; but at home I used to do Thermal. What about you? Yeah, I agree the sport tends to promote a party atmosphere... interestingly enough, a lot of the grooms (moreso in California) are Mexican, and thus cultural Catholics; I've had a few good discussions about Catholocism vs. Protestantism.
I also show on the IHSA with my school, which is fun because I can drag a few of my Bible group friends along to some of the shows... but they're terrified to get on lol. Still, it's a start.
I feel like even a prayer for the safety of participants and an offer to work through God is a start; which is all I've been able to do s far...
