Reps: 10 (power: 0) | | | sleep paralysis question? I've been reading stories about sleep paralysis and I'm having trouble determining whether it's a scientific thing or if its spiritual thing.
a lot of stories i have read are people saying, they see shadow figures next to their beds and them being scared and not being able to move
but when i have sleep paralysis, i don't see any shadow figures, instead i can feel whatever it is.
most people say its a ghost "sitting" on you, preventing you from moving and talking but i can actually move when I'm in this state..
I've had an experience where i could feel hairy legs rubbing onto mine and its arms gripping around my arms and neck.. squeezing tighter the more i tried to resist. the only way i seem to wake up is when i give up hope and just let whatever it is, have its way.
I've had encounters with what i think are men and women.. judging by the way they feel on me.. but also had a few where i couldn't determine either or
all my sleep paralysis stories varies.. but all i can feel is, like I'm going to be raped by a spirit..
I DON'T EVER think about raping or being raped, and it doesn't ponder in my mind for me to go and day dream or dream about it
I'm not sexually active nor do i plan on being sexually active until I'm married.
AND I'm not bi-curious nor do i think about it.
help?
I'm not stressed either =].. feel alone at times but nothing like a good song or good Bible story to change the mood |

I have had vaguely similar experiences. For example, feeling like I cannot move, or sometimes I feel like I leave my body and start floating around the room. I have had the feeling like I am being held down, controlled or attacked by an evil spirit also.
I believe it is all a part of my body's relaxation response. I read a book on the relaxation response. It answered my questions to my satisfaction. I incidentally learned how to put myself to sleep much faster as a result of the book. |

I've heard that sleeping on your side can help lower your chance of experiencing that but I can never sleep on my side for long. I always roll over. For a while I wearing a CPAP because I would stop breathing at night and I never had one when I wore that.

Sometimes when I go to bed and sleep for hours, my right arm paralysis and I can not feel my right arm then I have to move it using my another arm. I have asked my doctor, why does it happen and he suggested me to do some good exercises to keep my brain and cells active. When you lack communication between your brain and cells, you feel like some organ is not working/moving. Keep your self active and do daily exercises to avoid sleeping problems. |

Reps: 10 (power: 0) | | | I struggle with sleep paralysis quite often, but I have learned some tricks to deal with it. There have been times where I have had some of the worst nightmare-ish hallucinations you can imagine, but most of the time this does not happen so long as I stay calm- which is the key.
To do so, which is tough at first but gets easier, you must come to realize what is happening and realize whatever you may see or hear is not real. If you don't panic you don't hallucinate. Breathing still may be difficult. This is why it feels like a spirit sitting on you chest, but in reality only your involuntary breathing muscles work, not your voluntary ones.
Also, saying a prayer also helps keep calm. God will help you through the frightening experience. Maybe recite Psalm 23, or simple just call on the name of Jesus.
Finally, and this is the most helpful part that took me a long time to figure out... Don't panic and attempt to struggle to move, simply calm down and try to go back to sleep. When I do this I usually find I fall into a very vivid and pleasant dream.
Good luck and God bless!

I really put the smack down on the imaginary people a few times. Punched a whole through a window and even through my bedroom wall before . If you are lucky they will disappear as soon as you regain movement so you wont have to worry about it. For some reason mine stick around.
You might want to see a sleep specialist because I think sleep apnea was a major contributing factor for me. It might be with you too. I've never read about the two being connected but I never had an attack when I wore my CPAP thingy so I think they may be for some people.

Reps: 10 (power: 0) | | | I have suffered a similar experience for some time and have found a rather unconventional, but traditional cure. I know how scarey and draining it can be so I feel it my duty to pass on my experience and hope It will also clear it up for you and others.
If you need help and are open minded, contact me at: HunaAloha 7 @ gmail. com
I will e-mail you my experience.
Best Wishes,
