The greatest preacher...ever

I'm surprised that many people in Church do not realise that the greatest preacher in history* only ever preached in a synagogue, and never once stepped into a pulpit or entered a Church!

Amen!!

There's the reality of how Christ not entering a Church as many see it today would still need to be considered within the context of how the idea of churches was different..and yet present within the early Jewish community (alongside Gentile Churches where the Gospel was contexualized in their frameworks , Romans 16:3-5 ), as it pertains to the ecclesia/local bodies (Acts 8:1-3 , Acts 9:30-32, Acts 15:40-41, Acts 16:4-6, Romans 16:15-17, 1 Corinthians 7:16-18, 1 Corinthians 11:15-17 , 1 Corinthians 14:32-34 , 1 Corinthians 16:18-20, 2 Corinthians 8:17-19 , Galatians 1:1-3, 1 Thessalonians 2:13-15, Revelation 1:3-5 , Revelation 22:15-17, etc ) and the issue of where Yeshua proclaimed how He would establish His Church upon the apostles ( Matthew 16:17-19, Matthew 18:16-18 )....but seeing that there was not such as thing as a Church (as is seen today) around in that time, no surprise that synagouges were often the places he'd go to preach---but even in the synagouges Yeshua never made it his home since his ministry was global, from the outdoors/fields where he preached to thousands and feed them via the miraculous on the Hills (as do many feelowships today) to the street corners when he was walking and preaching on the way...same as street ministry today. Indeed, Yeshua is the greatest preacher/teacher that ever existed...alongside the greatest evangelist, prophet and minister that has ever lived. Alot of places wouldn't like him today, be it folks in synagouge or steeple house or church buildings, due to how he didn't always fit the rules people set

Lol I was reading it by hovering over the title and I said to myself 'it's gotta be Y'shua' and I was right!

Synagogues didnt have pulpits right? I heard it was pagan to have pulpits. Yet interestingly enough, I went to a Jewish synagogue recently in Savannah (actually it might have been Charleston) and I think there was a pulpit along with stained glass and sunday school for kids.

Jews actually do have sunday school classes in their synagogues!! They even speak of it being sunday school but I'm sure it's nothing like the christian sunday school classes gentile Messianics are familiar with . I think they may teach things like the alef-bet, Hebrew language, preparation for Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, etc., but I'm not really sure. Chava or Dena would know much more about it.

Yup, Jews have Sunday School, and Stained Glass! Imagine. Marc Chagall made really fine Stained Glass windows, I love his ones of the Twelve tribes of Israel.
What you saw is called a Bima, it's where you make aliyah, go up to read the Torah.

I think it's pretty much a Reform/Conservative thing, Orthodox usually send
their kids to religious school full time, not just a few hours a week.

Thanks! Live and learn. I knew that there are Hebrew schools but didn't realize they were mostly orthodox, that's why I had no idea exactly what was taught in the sunday school classes, just had to make a (hopefully) intelligent guess!
