Firstly, it is a sin. It's a very serious sin against the fifth commandment. However, does this mean that a person is damned? Only God knows.
In one of his "Table Talks," Martin Luther himself commented: "I don't have the opinion that suicides are certainly to be damned. My reason is that they do not wish to kill themselves but are overcome by the power of the devil." Luther goes on, however, to express concern that this statement not be misunderstood or misused in a way that would downplay the danger and seriousness of this sin in the minds of people.

You are correct, however, you forget that a person has to accept what Jesus did, repent of the sin(s), nature, etc. in order to experience the full effect of the cross. An unrepented sin is as bad as not accepting Jesus in the first place, because when death comes time is up.
No, I did not forget that. From the posts before mine, it was obvious we were talking about a saved person.
Can a suicidal Christian end up in hell if in the event that they commit suicide?
No.
Salvation is by grace, not by works. You cannot do anything to make you more or less worthy of salvation. The Lord Jesus Christ has already done it all.

My question is is suicide an unforgivable sin? Can a suicidal Christian end up in hell if in the event that they commit suicide?
The Lord Jesus Christ keeps His promises. He says He will never leave you nor forsake you. Conditional salvation is an oxymoron. Paul says nothing will separate us from the love of God. Nothing means no thing, period. Hope this helps. If it's not completely God's doing, then man has to save himself... which simply cannot happen. "Nothing in my hands I bring, simply to Thy cross I cling..." Any work you think you can add to Jesus' completed cross work is filthy rags draped over the perfect salvation which is in and of the Lord Jesus Christ... He will not thank you for it.

You can go from being a born again christian to a devil in seconds. I don't believe the doctrine of once saved always saved......you can lose your grace an salvation. Suicide is murdering yourself, it is usually anger turned inward. 'Now be not descieved bretheren, no fornicator, nor murderer.......shall enter into the Kingdom of God." Its like saying can a christian commit adultery.....no they can't, because when they do they are no longer a christian but now in sin.....if they repent an washed by the blood then they have come back to being a christian. You can't do that when you destroy the temple of God. As far as not judging christians.....please.....it is not our duty to judge those who are without Christ, but it is to those who call themselves christians. What about the insane, mentally ill.....I will not judge. But no sane christain should ever expect to go to heaven from committing murder on themselves....."He who endures until the end shall be saved."
i don't think suicide is really equivalent to premeditated murder; but it is indeed a sin. There is nothing in the scripture that says suicide will condemn someone to hell

If i may give my opinion. I think a good fear of hell is good, god loves them that fear Him, he doesn't hate them. Some of us need to fear hell, i do. BUt i like living by faith and not allowing that fear to rule my thinking, i like to seek God and let his peace rule my thoughts. I believe we can have peace in obedience and should never ignore our conscience, this could be dangerous. BUt fear can be used in a positive way, much like the fear of stepping in front a moving car, that's a healthy fear. Thats just my personal opinion though.
About suicide, it is forgivable i believe. Someone mentioned that its self murder and you cant repent once your dead and i don't agree, but i don't claim i know anything either, just my opinion.
Any preacher who would say sinning right before you die will send you to hell should think again maybe, are you perfect yourself? If not then what if you sin before you die, will you go to hell? We should be careful how we judge. Thankfully God is merciful and we can hope in that.
Just my fallible opinion.

There were people who committed suicide in the bible but nothing about them going to hell.

But i sure wouldn't want to kill myself and find out either. I think those who commit suicide may be suffering from an illness of some kind, maybe God will have mercy on them, i hope so.
