The reason Amendment One to the North Carolina Constitution passed overwhelmingly on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 is because people know the truth. That is what led North Carolinians to affirm that "marriage between one man and one woman is the only domestic legal union that shall be valid or recognized in this State." Any news source that led their report on the overwhelming victory for marriage in North Carolina with headlines such as "Gay Marriage defeated" or "Marriage Equality Dealt a Setback" is promoting the propaganda of the Homosexual Equivalency movement. No surprise there.

I hope that other states considering ballot referendums on any issues--liberal or conservative-- will be encouraged to do the same.

No it doesn't. You should have read the article. All it does is acknowledge the truth and Natural Law--marriage is between one man and one woman for the possibility of children, our future citizens, and the sole reason that the state has any concern in the marriage debate. North Carolina *already* has a law forbidding same-sex marriages. This is a North Carolina Constitutional Amendment that forbids the redefinition of what marriage is and the definition that the state protects.
Fear tactics have no place in this. They simply aren't true.

How do you consider putting the intitiative on the same ballot as other proposed laws that the people must vote on (thereby saving the state money for an additional election) "influencing the Presidential election". Seems to me that this *does* influence the Presidential election, even though this was months in advance of the Presidential election.

Hold on. They already had this as a law and voted on it again?
No, theres 's no hatred of gays in the deep South.
Here's a realistic worst case scenario...and it would probably play out this way on places like the deep South and Arizona:
Stand-your-ground laws used to defend murdering gays (the murderer got a-scared thinking that the homasexial was going to infect him with the gayness). Christians respond by saying, "their blood is in their own heads.". The Church, as usual, stands silent (she tends to, in practice, disregard CCC 2358 while emphasizing the harshest lines from 2357 & 2359).
BTW, I'm speaking to a culture of hate. Hate cares not for Natural law except as a means to an end.

For the past three centuries, it was the black people, then Jews and Catholics and the latest in that mix of hate, the homasexials.
It's about divide, conquer and rule.

By simply making sure that the definition of marriage (impossibly old) is not redefined, is not showing hate to same-sex people. It's simply recognizing reality. Marriage is between one man and one woman and is open to children. Marriage is the foundation of the family. The family are the first teachers, responsible for future taxpaying citizens. And *that* is the only reason the government has any business "sticking it's nose" in marriage.
This was simply North Carolina making certain that legislatures cannot try to change reality (by redefining the word "marriage") It doesn't effect a person who has the homosexual orientation. (It's not making him illegal in the state or telling him that he is a second class citizen, or forcing him to go into one of the programs that help the person.) If two people of the same sex want to "get it on" with each other, they will and do (it seems that there are some that actually *have*--and have no problem, it's not like we have the morals of years ago.) It's just not marriage in any sense of the word.
