Have Christian songwriters got out of the habit of intelligent meaningful lyrics? |

I think the problem is that modern songwriters are just not readers of the word and are more influenced by modern popular culture where 'Me' and 'I' are at the centre of the universe and 'feelings' rule the roost. I have been a christian for over 35 years and spent much of that time playing, writing and leading worship. The songs I grew up were based on scripture. In fact, my first songbook had the scriptural reference for every song in it's title and on the overhead. But it is what it is. The god of this age has dulled their senses. Everything is watered down now. The music, the teaching, the entire ministries have become modern and 'relevant' in their haste to grab the numbers. Even conversion has been watered down. So why should music be any different. We will now 'woah' ourselves into the kingdom. It just won't be God's one. |

Dear lord..Woah, woah woah..
Thats the same thing I guess because music worship is a bit like a prayer offering.

You know, the point at around chorus #2 when the singer begins the vibratic melismas to show off her voice? I'm not trying to be crude, but you can usually notice a spirit of humilty through a pure voice that can be discerned as genuine towards Ha-shem, but then it suddenly changes to carnal.
I shouldn't be so harsh. For some people, it's the only music style they know and their heart wants to genuinely worship, but I do see your point with the "woahs" |
