10 Things You Probably Didn't Know About the Easter Vigil...
Until 1955, the Paschal candle was not lit and carried into the church as it is today. The deacon would process holding a reed with a triple-branched candle on top. At each of the three singings of "Lumen Christi" one of the branches would be lit. The branches represented the revelation of the three persons of the Trinity.

Ours was 2:30.
I didn't really notice anything significantly different.

You did not notice the Deacon being more vocal than on previous Easter Vigils?

The buzz on the new "Exultet": here come the bees!

How did being MC go? Good Friday went for well for me. I was a disaster at the Vigil, but no one seemed to notice.

BTW, we baptized one, confirmed three and two made a profession of faith.

Profession of Faith?

Fill me in.

A lady went up to the mic lastnight & proclaimed that she believed & would follow everything the RCC teaches.... I have not seen it before.

You know? I'm not sure, and I left my script at church which might have any clues. As for as I remember, they had been baptized Catholic but hadn't yet made a 'profession of faith'. Then again, I'm pretty sure everyone got anointed and confirmed, so I'm not sure what the difference was.

It was just so different than anything I have seen or heard previously. She did get annointed but she was the only one that stood before the mic & said that. It just got me curious. Let me know if you find anything.

Thats about par for the course every year here. You may not think it but heavily Baptist Oklahoma seems to be ripe with Catholic converts.

I'm thinking that the profession of faith is for persons baptized Catholic but never confirmed. Essentially, they're already Catholics. The first group to get confirmed were baptized outside the Catholic Church. Everyone gets confirmed. I read, however, that those Churches of whose Sacraments we recognize (such as the EO), we wouldn't reconfirm them, all they would need do is make a profession of faith.
