The Social Credit of Alberta and BC had private banks and guess who stopped that activity. The left did from what I know.

Not "Funny money"

Following the 1937 Social Credit backbenchers' revolt, the government passed several pieces of radical populist legislation, such as the issuance of prosperity certificates to Alberta residents (dubbed "funny money" by detractors) in accordance with the theories of Silvio Gesell. Douglas, the originator of the Social Credit movement, did not like the idea of prosperity certificates, which depreciated in value the longer they were held, and openly criticized Gesell's theories.[2]

The Socreds also passed bills that would have placed the province's banks under government control. However, Lieutenant-Governor John C. Bowen refused to grant Royal Assent to the bills. The Supreme Court of Canada subsequently ruled the legislation unconstitutional because only the federal government can legislate on banking.

The NDP is worse than the Democrats in the US. They support killing babies and babykilling is legal for all 9 months in Canada. Nothing else they say or do can ever make them ok.

And the tar sands? So, you'd rather have oil from the Middle East? Seriously? Some people are so messed up.

Amercians should look at Canadians and understand what socialism does to a people.

Yeah, it makes them freaking awesome. The US could learn a lot from us in terms of health care, marriage, education, secular government, multiculturalism, and community.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm:

Health care - Canadians have now become a nation of wimps and addicts. We don't know how to take care of ourselves and the abuse of the system is so bad that it's a disgrace.

Marriage - our marriages are failing because we don't need marriage and family any more for our lives.

Education - Alberta, the most non-socialist province of all has by far the highest educational standards.

Secular government - you got that right.

Multiculturalism - I objected to the welfare system at work and was called a "fascist" by all the others (I'm the only one there born in Canada). Immigrants in the last 50 years have not come to Canada to serve our country. They have come to be served and they take full advantage of the situation. I've had immigrants boast how they love free medicare and welfare and the pension plans. I tell these people that I grew up in Alberta and we were ashamed to ever say we depended on the gov't for anything. Immigrants don't know how to respond to this. The ones that are independent and take care of themselves stay in their own countries because they are disgusted with Canada (and many immigrants return to their countries when they find out what being a "Canadian" really means).

Community - a African woman told me that in her country of origin, they leave their children for free with the neighbour and trust their neighbour. Here in Canada she has to leave her children with a neighbour for money and cannot trust her neighbour. Other immigrants have said similar things about the "wonderful" state of Canada.
