I remember in my first year physics class at the U. of London we had a poll on these questions and out of 206 of us only 35 people admitted to being Christians and 1 person was a Creationist. Dang really??? Where I live everyone practically are creationists, even those who are not Christians at least believe we were created by someone.

All I could think of was, "don't they teach science down there?" [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]! Really?? Yeah I had kinda the same culture shock when I got on the internet and found out that so many people actually don't believe in Creationism. LOL! I was like what!!??

Creationism is a specific scientific how, that someone created, just like evolution.
Creationism and belief in creation by god are seperate things.
One can believe in creation but not be a creationist.
There are many like that here, they believe in creation, and they believe evolution is How god created.

That's pretty funny. We all are pretty shocked when we discover that what we think isn't as widely held as we think. I know I was.

Reps: 2,857 (power: 21) | | | I particularly loved how my best friend and his room-mate tried to make me believe in Creationism.
My best friend's room-mate: Captain, tell me that you don't believe in evolution.
Me: Evolution happens, as can be observed in any laboratory in the world
My best friend's room-mate: If I return [to this university] next year, I will introduce you to a guy with a whole trunk full of stuff that disproves evolution. I mean, it's not like there were these two asteroids that collided together and there there was all this bacteria (moving his hands in an ususual manner while saying the last sentence).
Me: Ok, you have no idea what evolution is
My best friend: God created us just like that, right Joel. Humans evolved from monkeys, what a load of ****.
After that I just left the room. I haven't debated with either of them on evolution since then.

Reps: 2,857 (power: 21) | | | PS, I have NEVER been given any evidence for Creationism from either of them. Also, since Joel (my best friend's former room-mate) did not return, I will never met this guy with a trunk full of strawmen.
However, there was a presentation by Creationists at my university about a month ago etitled," Intelligent Design: A Scientific Alternative to Evolution." I just shook my head when I saw the flyer for it. |

HUMANS AND MONKEYS SHARE A COMMON ANCESTORY. WE DID NOT EVOLVE FROM MONKEYS, AND EVOLUTION NEVER CLAIMED THAT WE DID. |

Reps: 2,857 (power: 21) | | | It was my best friend's room-mate, LorentzHa. Sorry, I suppose I should have been more clear on that. I believe that my room-mate last year was a Creationist, and I know my current one is.
As I said, I just left the room after hearing them say what they did. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | | | |
