Reps: 97,088,909,774,339,728 (power: 97,088,909,774,354) | | | It is my understanding that despite the German "can do" mentality, their military trucks and jeeps were designed to run on roads. The Soviet Union didn't have a lot of paved roads at that time. German tanks, trucks and jeeps had to travel on dirt roads. It rained, the dirt turned into mud, then winter came and the mud froze.
I have an excellent video, How Hitler Lost the War, which covers this and other oversights and outright blunders of Der Fuhrer.
Of course, Hitler wasn't a general.

Dale, everything that Germany built was of such high quality and exacting, they could not be built in high enough numbers.
Take for instance, their Panzer and Tiger Tanks.They out gunned our Shermans and were superior in armor protection for the crews.
We just out produced the superior armor and beat them by shear numbers, much like the way the Russians did.
The most advanced equipment is not necessarily going to win a war.
On the Russian front, the weather was a HUGE bugaboo for the Germans..Clothing not suitable for the soldiers, and their guns and vehicles simply froze,becoming useless. Russia knew how to cope and issued supplies suitable for the climate.
If the weather had been kinder, the outcome on that front may have been different.

Reps: 97,088,909,774,339,728 (power: 97,088,909,774,354) | | | One of the videos I have on WWII says that the Soviet Union had ski troops which were not really known to the outside world. The ski troops wore white uniforms for camouflage and were trained not only to use skis but to fight on skis. This video says that the German army was completely unprepared for Russian ski troops coming down the mountains at them during the harsh winter.
