| Coping Skills/Ideas for Stress During our coping skills chat on skype, the group came up with a list of things to help cope. Create a coping/stress box so that you will have things in it that you can pull out when feeling stressed out or overwhelmed. Some things that could be put in it are: Make flip cards with positive statements about self Scented candles A cd of relaxing music or nature Stress balls Play Doh Scent oils/perfume Ipod Pictures that make us smile Coloring book Coloring pencils/markers/crayons A blanket or soft toy Cards reminding you to breathe Other things to help when feeling stressed and/or overwhelmed. Changing thoughts Changing little things (like picking up 3 things to put away) Pray for peace and/or comfort Smile at yourself in the mirror Get out of bed and get dressed instead of avoiding it Make a list of things to do that can be checked off |
